I also have the first droid.

Bought it new, it stopped working  4 months later and they gave me a used one, so I paid new money for a used one.

It screws up with text and I don't get me emails, never ever been able to send an email with it, no matter what I try

Its a piece of crap.

I am allowed to go for another one in july,

 fat chance verizon,    hehe

I was very excited to get this new motorola droid, but hate this phone and verizon now

first they should have replaced it with a new one.

and the piece of crap should work as it was intended

Thanx for letting me fume

Oh, fume away my friend! I'm also eligible for a discounted upgrade in July, I might either get the Thunderbolt by HTC or the new Droid Charge by Samsung

mem, they replaced your used (4 months of use, like you said) phone with a "like-new" phone, which means it met the manufacturer's certification for being lightly used and passed whatever tests they do. How is replacing your used phone with a used phone unfair in any way, shape, or form?

Also more than half of all Android issues are operator error, not phone issues. Are you installing the same apps on your second phone that you installed on your first phone? Are the symptoms even the same? Instead of just ranting because "this phone sucks and VzW doesn't help!", why not troubleshoot the issue and find out what is causing you to have a sub-par experience when others are enjoying their (same-model) phones?

Just saw some comments here ... Thought I could help. I've noticed a curiosity with my Droid which I've for 2 years now and like pretty much. As a battery saving measure that I saw on this community post, I put it in Airplane mode which switches off all of the wireless type services ... nearly a brick at that point but the battery lasts. Actually I have found that it lasts longer than if you power the phone off. ??? Go figure. Anyway, when I come out of airplane mode, it will not receive emails or text messages. Probably other things it won't do either. But ir you power it off and power it back on ... voila ... the emails and texts start coming. No idea what this is about. Was wondering if anyone new a better way to achieve this? Or if some Motoorola/Verizon/Anrdroid person out there is watching, maybe they could fix this. General recommendation - if your phone is acting strange, power down, power up.

I have had my Motorola Droid 16 months and have had zero problems with it. It's a great phone as far as I'm concerned.

Actually, you paidnew money for a new DROID when you got it. When you returned a 4 month old DROID because of a manufacturer's defect, they gave you a certified replacement in return, which for all you know could be newer than the one you sent back.

I like the example that has been mentioned in these forums several times; Next time I bring my car in for warranty service, I am going to complain that I did not get a NEW car in return.

I like that response! I get so tired of people complaining that they get a "used" phone as a replacement when they payed for a new phone to begin with...Well, people, start taking better care of your phones!

Sorry for the problems you're having with your Droid. Since the one-year warranty has expired and it does not appear as though you may be eligible for an upgrade (hence your reason for concern), you do have the option to purchase a Certified Pre-Owned Device at a discounted cost. For more details, simply click here

Thanks,
