This has happend twice now. Going to my photos, I notice tyat pitcures are missing. I recovered some with a recovery program but some are gone. I have heard about others experiencing this.
What could be causing pictures to be randomly deleted? This is pretty scary.

I also lost 35 photos a few days ago that were in the "Camera Roll". Needless to say, it is very disturbing. The photos were there and the next time I checked, they were gone. This is definitely an issue that needs to be resolved. From now on, I will have to move my photos off my sd memory card frequently, to ensure they aren't deleted by the Droid X.

This is something abnormal for sure. I'm glad its just not me, but I very much want to have this narrowed down as I am freaked to take any pics for free of their deletion.

The only time I noticed photos not showing in photo preview view was usually after I dismounted from Storage Card mode because the system takes a bit to rescan all files and place them back in the preview but I never had any images completely deleted from card. Are you using any kind of clean up apps?

Was this mystery ever solved? Or is it still an ongoing problem now that Froyo 2.2 is here?

I had a similar problem, I would take the pictures and see them in the preview and when I went to the gallery there would be a black and white image (not the picture) as if it were corrupt. Then the next day the camera would not load at all, I would press the red button, try it from the home screen and nothing, it's as if I had no camera. I took it in to the store and the rep said it was not an issue, that I simply had to do a hard reset, which he proceeded to do. The rep made me feel like I was crazy and there is simply nothing wrong with the X. It worked but seriously I'm not sure if every time I have a problem, I want to do a hard reset. It's simply annoying.
I'm sure you probably tried doing the hard reset but if not then maybe you should, hopefully that will fix it. My 30 days are almost up, I have exactly 20 days with my X but I don't think I will make it to the 31st day with it. Considering a Fascinate or even the Incredible at this point. Good Luck.

Sorry just notice your question, when I say Clean up apps I am speaking of any apps that clear up old files, clear cache, deleting history or any thing like that, maybe a app like that is removing the files for some odd reason.
