I don't think you are correct stating that it is the apps fault.....If it is the App developers fault then how come they show up just fine on my droid 1 with the 2.2 update for that?

ive learned the issue is not just for the DX...some people with unauthorized 2.2 updates and tablets running 2.2 also do not see the app. tit seems there are security concerns apparantly with Paid apps and I think that there was an error with this Froyo update or with the market where this 2.2 release does not register as an official 2.2 version.

I expect either a Patch for the phone or an update with Market soon.

don't ask for my sources......eh hem.  google.

No problem....though i was using "google" as a verb :smileyhappy:  but i will say I was linked to a sling media support forum and also some other sites where i formulated my own opinion of what happened....I'm probably sort of right.

Ok...now that 2.2 is official, some paid apps are not showing up in market. Primarily sling player mobile and documents to go. I paid $30 for sling. If I do factory reset, I wont be able to get it back. Has anyone noticed some of their paid apps missing from market or downloads list?

The reason why you do not see these apps after upgrading to 2.2, is that the developers have not updated the program or the manifest to include 2.2. Verizon has NOTHING to do with the market, and Google has nothing to do with why some apps shsow and some don't

You need to contact the developer of the software in question and tell them that you no longer can see the apps after updating. This is a feature of the market, where deveopers can target specific OS flavors.

No one is blocking anything. If a developer has not included 2.2 as a target OS, the market will not show it on 2.2 phones.

There are things in the market that you did not see before, but you can see now, because those apps were targeted just at 2.2, and nothing below. That would include Flash, Gmail update etc.

You may be correct that an app developer can specify which phones can download apps, but the problem here has been found to be that the new 2.2 update is not identifying itself to the market in a way that the market can know which apps to properly show.

Workarounds have been found that demonstrated that an entry in the build.prop file in the system files must be recognized by the market in order for the market to allow downloads of a certain type.  The Droid 2 with 2.2 can download all the apps that are missing because the market has been updated to recognize the new build.prop entry of the droid 2 after froyo was released.  The market has not yet been updated to recognize the new build.prop identity in the Droid X release, and until it is updated we will be unable to download all those apps, so yes, i think it is Google's responsibility here for not having the correct update in their market yet.

(As an example that the Droid X can indeed run all those apps with froyo... if one replaces the entry in build.prop with the one that comes with the droid 2 then everything is seen in the market.  Can't do that with the OTA update that just came out though  unlessyou void warrenty.)
