New to Droid

I just got a Droid 2 after being a Blackberry user for years.  I got my contacts over to the Droid but is there any way to get my calendar, tasks, password keeper, etc. without having to enter them all into the Droid?  And is there a way to sync my calendar with Outlook/Windows Messaging?

I'm not sure about Outlook since I don't use my phone that way, but I believe Verizon's Backup Assistant will do the rest of what you're looking for.

The only way to get your outlook calendar synced is either using exchange, a 3rd party software such as companionlink, or exporting your calendar from Outlook and importing it into google calendar.

Companionlink is also supposed to sync your tasks too.

If you password keeper is an app, I doubt you can port your passwords from that app to one on the droid since they have a different OS.

Here are the steps for syncing your outlook calendar.

To add Corporate Sync / Exchange accounts:

  1. Open Applications tray, select My Accounts
  2. Select Add Account
  3. You will be at the Set-Up accounts menu with several other social network icons.
  4. Tap on Corporate Sync:

You will need the below information to setup an Exchange Account on your phone:

  • Enter: Domain name\user name
  • Enter Password
  • Use secure server should be checked.
  • Enter Email address
  • Enter Exchange Server Address

    5. Tap on Next  to submit settings. Handset will check with server and verify if successful

  • You cannot move email into folders from the device.
  • You cannot sort or search email.
  • OWA servers are not the same as Exchange servers, and are intended to be used only in browsers.
  • HTML exchange email is only shown if you are connected to Exchange 2007 server using 2007 protocol
  • EML files (embedded emails) are not currently supported.

Bosslady,

I have outlook on my PC but I don't have exchange. Your method of syncing Outlook will not work in that case.

Outlook and Exchange are not the same thing.

It also should be noted, though, that there is a bug in Corporate Sync (Motorola is aware of it, and they plan on releasing a fix in the next maintenance update) that requires a pin to unlock your phone, whether your server rules require it or not:

Motorola has been suggesting that users try the Touchdown app in the interim, but I think the free version is only good for 30 days.
