My 5 month old DROIDX has been having "seizures".

....No joke!  My DROIDX is only 5 months old, and we live in the NorthEastern corner of Arizona...and just so happen to NOT have good coverage in our tiny little area.  Closest Verizon store is in Vegas;  99 miles away.  I went there once to ask advise and have them talk me into keeping my DROIDX.  I continue having issues.....anyone else out there experience problems?  I am NOT a Happy DROIDX user.

Is your issue with the phone itself having problems? Or not having coverage? I'm a little confused. If you don't have good coverage in your area you may consider switching carriers to the one that gives you the best coverage.

Thanks for the reply.  Sorry for the confusion about my issues.  Its true, the area is not the greatest, yet my husband gets fine reception(and he has the DROID Incredible), neighbors too with Verizon.  My DROIDX is my main gripe, as its really been doing weird things.  What I call the "seizures" has happened 3 times in the past week, I have plenty of sudden dropped calls, unable to slide the bar to open the phone to receive a call, cracky noises, ....... and other stuff.  I just don't know what to do?  Can I get a replacement X?  We didn't buy insurance when we first bought the phone(s) and can't imagine paying $500.00 for a new one.  HELP Please.  We have been Verizon customers for YEARS.

What issues? What problems? We can not help you if we don't know what your phone is doing.

For the meantime you can try dialing *228 and selecting option 2, that might help with your reception. As far as the phone's issues, it definitely sounds like a bad phone. I'm not the best person for replacement information, and I'm sure someone else will jump in and say more about it, but I would suggest calling customer service and telling them about your issues and see if they can send you a replacement.

Okay, posted too soon. Have you tried a  factory reset? As far as getting a replacement phone without insurance, if you had it more than 14 days, you're out of luck. The first thing I would try is shutting the phone off and pulling the battery. Leave it out for about 15 seconds and then replace it. If that doesn't help, you might have to bite the bullet and do a factory reset. If that doesn't work I would take the drive and speak to an agent about an exchange. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Thanks for the replies......tried taking out the battery (for 10 minutes) several times.....always do the *228, pressing option #2. So, better try the factory reset.  I'll check in later.  :smileysad:

that's wrong...you're not out of luck if you are past 14 days - Verizon will replace your phone within a year of purchase if the phone needs repalcement. You don't need insurance. You may get a NEW phone within 14 days, but outside of 14 days, you just get a refurbished phone sent to you. On top of that, when you get a replacement the one year ticker starts all over again on that specific unit....I bought my Droid X from a reseller and not directly from Verizon and Verizon replaced it with a certified like new (aka refurbished). Verizon gave me a little grief cause I wouldn't troubleshoot with them, since all they ever do is tell you to do a factory reset, battery pull, etc, so why do all that with the phone rep when you KNOW it won't work, but I got another rep who replaced it no questions asked.

Did these issues just start recently?  How has the phone been working since you got it a few months ago (I believe you said five months?)    You've not had any similar problems with any other phone over the years you've been with Verizon?   Has it gotten wet, dropped, or damaged in any way?

Contact Verizon, and they might be able to send you a replacement.  More than likely, not a new phone, but a refurbished one which can be just as good.  Or, in your case, better than what you have now.

The issue is you cannot get a "new" phone after 14days, you can indeed get a refurbished phone up to the 1year warranty.

Also the 1year warranty sticks to the date of your original purchase unless you have less than 30days left on that warranty.  Believe me as I've been through this several times.  If you get a replacement phone at the 6 month mark, your refurbished phone will have 6 months of warranty left.  If you get a new phone with less than 30 days left on your warranty you will get a 30 day warranty on the refurb device.
