Re: If the 2.2 update has destroyed your phone post your issue here. Wants as many as possible

My Droid is factory as well.  I updated when the phone suggested because the (2) previous updates have helped with the phone (especially when I could not end the call and had to remove the battery after each call because the screen would freeze).  It was the third update that got me.  I have/run very few apps on my phone.  I have downloaded several recommended by friends, but typically delete them as I loose interest easily.

So my phone tried to update itself (from factory) and now it wont start up! I get the first screen saying "Touch the android to begin". I also get the following screen asking me to activate my phone, but thats it! It will not advance to anything else. Someone please help?

I have had my droid for about a year now and the 2.2 update has been nothing but problems for me.  1st the battery life drained very fast (until I did a factory reset) .  But the phone, browser and everything is very slow and lags quite often.  Anyone have possible solutions to fix the lag ?

Exchange email is dead after 2.2 upgrade for everyone in my company.

So the solution from Verizon to the phone not working as advertised is to buy a third party app.

The Droid phones are advertised to have Exchange support through activesync. It is a know issue that the Android 2.2 push broke Exchange support for anyone who had  it working prior to the 2.2 push.

Verizon needs to own this problem and get a fix other than "use touchdown" or give us Touchdown for free.

Guess what, there's a 2.3 Android update that seems to be making the rounds:

Too bad it's only for the Droid 2.  So here's a question, what's the average lifespan of a phone anymore?

i'm about ready to shoot my phone with my new XD tactical 9mm I just bought. This is total bull**bleep**! I've never had a phone with so many problems since the stupid OS update.

Ever since the last update, I don't know if it was 2.2 or not--no idea, Either way, over time there after, my screen has lost 25% of use vertically over the "home" symbol all the way up to the top of the screen. It also pushes on the screen itself. It makes calls, scrolls up and down uncontrollably, many times I can't even slide my phone open because it requires the that 25% to work since to unlock it is a horizonatal line. From the time I've had the phone, I used to use a pattern of my creation to open it. Now I can't do that because it was nearly impossible to predict it working. So now, not only is my phone screwing up for ME, but it is also vulnerable if stolen. I have been in numerous situations where I have desperately needed my phone and have had to go without, which kills me considering what I pay a month for the service on top of you know...wanting what I bought to actually work. I was under the impression I could get a new phone after year 1. Apparently, I have to wait a total of a year and half before I'm eligible for a free upgrade...which means I'm still more than 6 months now from being able to do anything about it. And I can't afford a new phone at their proces.

The strange thing is, is that even though I can't access my apps on that portion of the screen no matter which of the 5 screens I'm on, when I have the Skype program showing, that portion of the screen works again. It's the only app I know of so far that somehow still uses that portion where everything that is the actual Droid does not. I don't get it. I've been hoping for a new upgrade, that maybe that'll fix the problems I'm having. Otherwise, if this is what I have to deal with for another 6+ months....then I will not be renewing my account. Which is sad. I walked into this very proud and excited and boastful. Instead now, I'm left very disappointed...

I have been in love with my Droid X since day one.  Since the update, however, it 'freezes' at least once every day, and I get browser forced closes constantly.  I looked at some of the online forums and one suggested clearing both the cache and the data.  Clearing the cache didn't fix it, so I cleared the data, and so far so good.  However, meanwhile, I've lost all my bookmarks.  Grrrrr!!

I should have added that I really love the updates, but am not enjoying the bugs.

I assume that you are referring to the 2.3 update!  This is a very old thread...  But interesting to all those complaining about the 2.3 update ruining their 2.2 experience.  Looks like at the time 2.2 wasn't welcome either!
