Both are really good phones, however, I believe that the Droid X has several advantages. It has a better camera. It has a better screen. It is a bit faster. I would suggest that you do a side-by-side comparison between the two phones.

I recently had a chance to get AT&T's cousin of the Fascinate. So far I don't regret it. Silly Trust Market.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

both are good phone.
for me the x was too big
from using my wifes d2 i also prefer touchwiz over blur, but this is a personal choice
if you put anytype of a case on the x you will feel like your carrying a laptop, its just that massive

This is a personal thing. I do not find the Droid X that big. Compare it to some of the older "Hershey Bar" phones, it's small. I suppose that if you were small, or had small hands, it would be massive. I put my phone in my pants pocket with no problem, and it feels less heavy than the Droid 2.

Definitely a personal perception thing. I have the Incipio Silicrylic case on my X and when it goes in my pocket, it just feelas like it disappears.

I think you will be happy you went the Motorola route. Holding the two devices in your hand side by side you will notice the Fascinate has a cheap plastic feel but the Droid X has a sleek metal feel. Also Motorola has a history of making devices that last and they continue support for them. Heck they still provide support and updates for the original Droid and it's been out for over a year now.
Samsung and HTC both have a history of dropping support for devices as soon as they develope a new product, your Eris is a perfect example of this.
As far as size goes, I have the leather case on my phone and it fits fine in my hand and my pockets. But then I don't have tiny hands or wear the Miller Lite skinny jeans. However everyone who has told me that the phone was ginormous quickly retracted their comments after I allowed them to hold the phone and watch a video on it.

well im not a small guy, but as i said it just felt huge. the fascinate feels much smaller and sleeker.
i have nothing against motorol, ive owned thier phones and the were good phones.
samsungs i have owned have been just as good.
i always advise people to go to a vzw corp store and play with any model they are interested in before buying
