Droid X Screen misbehaving

Hi,

Have a replacement droid x, about 30 days old. It has an extended battery with the correct battery cover. Five days ago I placed a body glove case on it for the trip I was planning,.  It was running just fine until this morning.

Now it seems to be making its own selections as to what screen to move to, what application to start and which items on the application to press. It seems to like going to the last screen on the right a lot.

If I go into the phone book it selects entries before I do and wants to view them.

Sometimes the pull down menu doesn't want to stick on the botton and just rolls up.

It also likes to ignore screen selectionsm, even when it has been sitting around doing nothing,

Have watched it go to a screen the requires a password and start typing in a password,

I almost acts like it is replaying selections automatically at random times,

These are the actions that I have taken.

-- I did take of off the local network, but that didn't seem to make any difference.

-- Did a power off, power on, battery pull and restart.

-- Took off the body glove case that I added 5 days ago (that is 5 days w/o any off behavior). That seemed to help for a while, but it started up again.

-- Deleted last few apps that I installed. Still goofing off on me,

-- Sometimes it stops and lets me use the phone, other times i fight the endless screen changes and application restarts before giving up.

I am out of town and can't go to my local verizon store, also don't want to do a hard reset, again, to fix i.

Any suggestions ?

Joe

I would have bet on the body glove, especially if it was from a third party vendor. Cases not made specifically for the Droid X can cause havoc. Yes, I am speaking from unhappy experience. But evidently, you did take it off and it is still acting up. Even though you may be out of town, I still would take a trip to the Verizon store in the area you are in. They can be very helpful. One thing you can try is removing the battery cover and see if this strange phenomena is still happening. If it stops, then you know it's the cover. The tabs may be a little bent causing undo pressure on the battery. This has happened, especially with extended batteries.

I would suggest checking the phone's screen and see if there is something that may have either stuck in the screen or dented it causing problems with the touchscreen, but other than that...
