Droid X Dock and Accessory Compatability

Hello!

 

I don't have the X quite yet, but I would like to know if I can use the Droid X Dock while the phone itself has a case on it, specifically the Carbon Fiber case offered by Verizon Wireless. And does that Carbon Fiber case work with the extended battery and its larger cover? Finally, will the Droid X dock when it has a case AND extended battery?

No the docks usually don't work with the DX in a case. I bought the car dock and I'm using the shell/holster case. If you look at the dock at least the car dock there is a removable piece to accomodate some cases like the slim silicone cases and extended battery. I'm not sure about the home dock. I had to modify my car dock by grinding some plastic out of the lower from edge. Took a little trial and error fitting but it works fine with the case now.

The desk dock won't accept a case of any kind.  It will however handle the Verizon extended battery and cover.

 

I had a case on my droid x and couldn't use the car or desk dock without removing it.  I finally said the heck with it and removed the case so I could use both docks, which I really like.   One added benefit of removing the case after having it on my phone for about 5-6 weeks was the phone felt really small after that.

Wow that's convenient... Well in that case, how has using your Droid X's without cases been? Does the phone get scratches easily, like how durable do you think it is? And do you use the HDMI output with your dock? I don't want to use it really but I feel like I should because it's there!

the back seems to be easy to mark up but the screen is that super resistant gorilla glass so you really gotta try to scratch it.

The carbon fiber case fits fine with the extended battery.
