Contacts and Messages erased, and now phone resetting

I woke up this morining, and reached over to my phone to check my emails before getting ready for the day. I look over, and I notice that I don't have a single text message. This is odd, because, I text myself anything I need to remember for the next day, before I go to sleep. I check my phone, and every text message has been erased.

Not just every text message, but every contact, all settings, all accounts, everything has been reset and erased. This has happened before, and I just put it all in by hand. This time, I tried to recover from the backup. When I did that, my phone froze up, and turned off. Now, my phone is starting the splash screen, with the wheel thing in the middle, and the two red tendrels on the side, and stays for about 2-3 seconds, then turns off, and goes to that screen again. Nothing is stopping it, nothing is turning it on, and it won't respond to any button.

Help?

EDIT: I pulled the battery out, to restart it completely. Now, the Home key and Search key aren't working at all, along with some combination of the screen, and the other two buttons every time I reset it. I'm working on getting all my contacts back, but this is just obnoxious. Would it be possible to get a new phone from this problem? Or do a factory reset somehow?

Check your battery.  Is it dangerously low such as <20%?    Touch Contacts>MENU button>More>Display Options.  Touch Phone and make sure everything has a RED check.

OTOH, if your phone did an UNWANTED Factory Reset you are in deep DuDu.

Actually it may turn out okay because an update to Gingerbread will become available 11/29 and a full factory reset before updating could be good thing.  Also, some folks on this forum have said you may be able to manually download the update BEFORE 11/29.

My battery is fine. upper 80%. And I checked. It actually erased all my contacts. It erases them every time it does the constant resetting. Now, it is switching between restarting constantly, and the buttons not working.

I think that it may have done an unwanted reset somehow.

There is a Verizon store in my area. If I brought it in, would they be able to fix it/give me a new phone? This is extremally troublesome.

If your Sansung Charge phone is a new one you bought at a VZ store right out of the box do NOT get a replacement all they will send you is a phone someone else previously returned because it would not work.

On Tuesday 11/29 VZ will release the NEW Gingerbread software for your Charge phone.

Go to the VZ store and ask them to PULL down the software early and do a MANUAL install to upgrade your phone with the new Gingerbread software.  There is a very GOOD chance that will fix it.

Do not depend on the sales clerks.  BE FORCEFUL.  Then be VERY FORCEFUL!  Talk to the store manager.

Please tell me your results from doing this.
