Can't activate

Just got a Bionic yesterday, and as of tonight, it still will not activate. VZW tech support said probably bad SIM card, so I took it to corporate store and got a new card. Same result. Verizon store would not help any further, as I purchased it from Amazon, and there is a 10-day wait at Amazon to get a replacement, because they are backordered. VZW tech said that he didn't think that anything was wrong with the phone, but it was a switching problem in the network. It will say "please wait until your phone has been activated and restarted", and does nothing else. Finally, it will say there was a problem activating, please call customer care. Any suggestions? BTW, I do not live in a 4G area. I am in eastern NC.

Yeah, that bites...

A couple of things you can try, no promises. First, see if you can skip the activation step and get into the phone's settings. Press the menu button (bottom left button on the screen), select settings, then wireless & networks, and scroll down to mobile networks. Select that and set the option to CDMA Only. That's what it took to activate my first and second Bionic.

If you can't get past the activation process of the phone, then cop your best superior attitude with the unhelpful, rep and boldly suggest that they try to activate your SIM card in an HTC Thunderbolt first, then insert your card into your Bionic and see if it activates from there. Yeah, this is crazy, but I've seen it work in our non-4G LTE area.

Let us know if you get your phone activated...

When I got my Bionic the same thing happened.  I went back to my Verizon store and they had to insert a different SIM card, there was a problem with the one installed.

Worked like a charm. Thank you!

What worked was putting the SIM in another 4G phone at the VZW store.
