Auto Complete (also known as Predictive Text)

Hi. As a person with a disability, I benefited tremendously from the Auto Complete feature that my old Blackberry Pearl had. I checked with Verizon Wireless before purchasing the Motorola Droid and was assured that it has the Auto Complete feature. To my dismay, I can't access that feature when using the slide-out keyboard (it is available on the touch screen).

Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the case (that is, the Auto Complete feature will not work when using the slide-out keyboard)?

If that is the sad reality, is there an application out there that would enable Auto Complete on the slide-out keyboard?

there is no auto complete for using the slide keyboard, ive searched for an option as well and have come up empty handed. however i use the onscreen keyboard a lot better than the slide out keyboard for some reason, and autocomplete still works that way 😕 as for an app i have not found one yet.
