It's been my experience that forum posters are impatient with people who simply ask a question that has already been answered.  I'm not saying you shouldn't ask.  What I am saying is why do they feel a need to answer it.  If its been asked and answered then don't bother posting a response.  Let the poster find it on his own or simply say they have not come out with a date as of yet or simply post a link to the answer.  I tend to agree with you for the most part.  If anything, some posters just lack tact.

If you think about it.  Every question has an answer somewhere on the internet.  Are we to search endlessly for this answer or post the question on a board where you think you might get a quick response.

Agreed; and well said.

I agree with you in part.  I see no need in responding to a post simply to berate or embarrass the OP.  However, I think it's perfectly acceptable to notify the OP that the issue has been "asked and answered".  Many of the questions that are asked are from first time (and often one time) posters who do not realize that there IS a search function.  I think that it's only beneficial to the OP to point that fact out.  Maybe the next time they have a question they will be able to find a solution quicker and not have to wait for supitsmike, willanya, BKfist, GreatOne, fezzik, ivory, etal to answer their question. so that he/she may use it in the future.

That said, If I respond to an "asked and answered", post I always like to give someone a solution or at least and attempt at one, while nudging them in the direction of the search function.  There is never a need for flaming, simply because someone asked a question.

You'd be surprised how much the top contrubutors answer the same questions, and usually without reminding the OP about the search function. SuzyQ uses macros to answer these questions so she doesn't have to type them over and over again. I myself have never flamed an OP just for asking an answered question, and agree that it's wrong to do so. In that case it's better to just say nothing at all.

Usually what people see as flaming or trolling is really just that poster's opinion. Some people get offended when someone speaks up with an opposing view, so they accuse the dissenting poster of flaming, trolling, or (my favorite) being an "undercover" Verizon employee. They call them rude, or fanboys, or whatever else they can say to discredit them without actually providing a thought out argument. Personally I try to be polite most of the time, and my posts are usually more helpful than not.

There ARE,however, some situations where some of us top posters just can't resist the need to make fun of a poster who is acting particularly obnoxious or bull-headed. These are the ones who usually post one or two messages which are more often than not just a rant about how terrible Verizon is and how they were cheated, stolen from, or lied to. On rare occasions I actually agree with some of these posters, but most of the time they're so blatantly wrong that I and a few others can't resist teasing them a little. Call it rude if you want but when you read/answer the same questions day after day, you have to find your fun somewhere.

I was trying to stay away from this thread as much as possible. But I agree with PPC, and Zehan.

What you need to understand is that it's certaintly quicker to just do a "Will 2.1 come to the Droid" Google search as opposed to registering for a completely new account on a forums that you're going to post a total of two (2) times. One to get your question answered, and two, to get snippy when someone does it with a little lip.

To me it takes certain audacity to expect help that you could have given yourself, from someone that you think is going to be nice about it.

Just my opinion.
