5 New Droid's, Same Problem - Drops, Shuts down, Touch Pad freezes.

I use to use my phone a ton. Now, Customers are only calling me at the office. I used to love Verizon, but these droid's are killing me. 

 

For the high volume users: 

 

Does anyone that uses over 3000 minutes a month, find this phone useful? 

 

Which phones are good over 3000 minutes a month? 

 

Is anyone using the Phone? Any luck?

I'm guessing you own/run a business?

Do you use email a lot? I would suggest a Blackberry for a business person. They seem to run a lot smoother for the needs of business users.

I haven't seen the low side of 3000 minutes in over 3 years, the last 2 years on Android, the last 11 months on a Droid X, and a week on a Droid X2. Business and personal. Email, messages, web, the works.

Seems like it does business fine to me. Thankfully, I don't need to screw around with Exchange.

Rarely have dropped calls. Keypad used to lock up a lot. Seems to have improved with GB.

My minutes are below yours, but as much as I love this phone, I would never use it for business.

Had a call come into today while driving. Wasn't using Bluetooth. Grabbed phone out of the car dock. I know, bad to do when driving, but it was an important call.

Grabbing the phone out of the dock while it was ringing locked up the phone. Call missed. I know the game, fellow forum folks, it's the car dock app's fault. That (blaming apps) is becoming an old tired answer.

For business, I second the idea of a BB. I would also use a basic flip phone as a back-up.

I've had way too many calls go straight to voicemail, or the lock slider malfunction when I try to answer calls.

I don't even consider this a "phone". I consider it a multi-media device. Smartphones seem to be designed these days for everything but making/receiving phone calls. Anyone ever heard about a little antenna issue on iphones? It's not an Android issue, it's a smartphone issue.

What apps do you have on the phone?

How often do you clear data from apps?

When was the last time you did a battery pull?

 

I haven't heard too much buzz about the droid x being a poor device, maybe it is something you are doing

Since when is receiving phone calls contingent upon pulling your battery first?

And, a person should clear the data in all their apps for the same reason?

You were likely responding to the OP, but if I was using any device and I couldn't rely on it for phone calls because of the apps installed, or if I hadn't pulled the battery recently, it would go straight in the trash can.

The OP isn't specific what their issues are. I am an unabashed "fan" of this phone. But, it's got its flaws.

I think it's odd that so many people expect such an advanced device to work all the time with no hiccups and require no sort of maintenance.  Seriously ppl, you spent what, $200 to $600 on this phone?  The average vehicle runs $25k-40k yet it requires routine maintenance and not many people complain about that.

 

It has long been the advice of most reviewers that Android Devices are not recommended for Business use.  Sure they can make do on most things, but the O/S is still very early in it's life cycle.  Selecting it as your business device is a gamble, plain and simple.  Some will have no problems at all with it, others will have all sorts of problems.  But then again I'm sure every office worker knows at least one person who ALWAYS has problems with the office Copy Machine yet it works fine for everyone else.

 

Not all devices are created for all consumers, that's why there are TONS of choices.  If you have so many problems with the Droid X, spend the money and get a replacement device.  Sure if sucks, but you had time to test drive the device and life isn't fair.

I've always heard since i had a black berry about 4 years ago that a weekly to two week battery pull is good for the phone if you are a user like me that never shuts off the phone. It should help things run smoother completely shut down any apps or programs that may be lingering from heavy use during the week and as far as calls going I've never had an issue besides the ear piece volume
