Same, I've been in touch with tier 1 support 5x, tier 2 support 3 (maybe 4x), and have been escalated to network support once.
What I've heard is the solution: put a blank simcard (nonactivated) into your phone then activate it so it recognizes the CDMA-less LTE-only sms messaging of the device. Then have Verizon switch the device to cdma-less.
Transferring an old SIM will not work.
Hopefully Verizon writes a troubleshooting script for this so others don't have to give an IMEI number, PIN, SIM verification code, restart my phone every time, get placed on indefinite holds, dropped from tier 2 to tier 1 while being placed on "a brief hold," etc like I did.
