Can confirm all these issues. Its been a painful few days. I am also upgrading from an M8. Had same problems has many posting here. Tried to add in HD voice no luck until U11 became a 'known' device that could be activated on Verizon's systems. I was able to get data and texting from my original M8 SIM card.

The U11's IMEI is now recognized as of today, went to the store to activate, get a new SIM and make sure HD voice was on my account and now it wont connect  to the network at all. I get data sometime if I flick on and off the airplane mode but usually once I start doing something it dies. The error I tend to get now is that the SIM is not compatible for this network, so off to the store again tomorrow....... I've talked to specialists all day and been emailing back and forth with HTC trying to solve this. What a disaster.... at least the Verizon guys at the store loved the phone's looks

Yea I would say wait a week. Or I guess if you buy it now by the time it gets to you hopefully things will be smoothed out. For now I will be going back to the Verizon store to get a new SIM card and hope things start to work, will keep you posted

After talking with HTC and Verizon, do you get the feeling that they are trying to make this a "workable" phone on VZW?  I just got mine yesterday, so have most of the 30-day "return time" left.

I'm just wondering if I should keep it for a couple of weeks and see how things progress with it.

Hey llong

Yea I do feel like they are trying now since yesterday because the IMEI is now in their systems. Before this it was days of "No this phone wont work on our network" "Where did you buy this phone" "There is no way this can work on our network you must have been on WiFi" and very dismissive attitudes

For me I think the issue is specific to a few fuck ups on people who have tried to help me over the last few days and now my account / SIM is screwed up / upgrading from ancient M8 . For everyone else I hope it is easier to activate now

I received my U11 yesterday, 6/13/17. This is to replace my HTC M9. I removed the SIM card from the M9, per the instructions included with the U11. Installed the SIM card in the U11, started up the phone. After it went through the startup process, I thought I was good to go. But there was an issue of some sort, the phone would NOT make or receive calls, it would send and receive text messages, but always with an error message saying the text could not be sent (even though I verified that it did go through). After spending time at the Verizon store in person, and a last ditch effort to see if Best Buy Mobile could help, I contacted HTC. The HD Voice option HAS to be activated on the line you are trying to add the U11 to. Once this option was selected for my line, the phone was restarted, and everything works as it should now. This information was provided to me by HTC, NOT Verizon. Verizon has virtually NO information regarding this phone, and are of little help with this new model. Hopefully this helps someone avoid the frustration and aggravation I have went through today.

I received the unlocked (Verizon) HTC U11 from HTC yesterday. After popping the SIM card in from my Verizon HTC 10, it worked after a while. It downloaded files from the play store. I ran the google restore to bring the setting and apps from my old phone. I let the OTA update from HTC install. I also ran the HTC transfer tool to bring in additional settings. After rebooting several times the Verizon services became steady. So everything seems to work except Visual Voicemail and perhaps video calling (which I never was able to use anyway). The LTE radio seems a lot better. Where the HTC 10 would occasionally drop out the U11 does not. In the settings, about, network, it lists the Verizon info. In the settings, call, it will have Voice over LTE box checked. You can also dial *#*#4636#*#* to show test results. Also, on My Verizon it lists my phone as HTC U11, with the IMEI number listed as well.
I did not do the Verizon online activate process because I'm afraid it might 'break' the phone. Also, the SIM card is already activated from previous phone.

I found out today that if there is no Verizon service, like in some areas in the building I work, it will ask to choose from a provider list. It will keep bugging me until service is available. Perhaps next time I will see if there is an option to turn off the automatically choose provider, and set it to Verizon only.
I also found the Verizon Visual Voicemail in the play store but it will not allow install because it is 'not compatible' with my phone. I went to Verizon today but they just said it won't work with the HTC U11.

So the voicemail notification pops up, and  I choose to view/listen, the vm program abruptly quits and asks to send crash info to HTC. Dialing *86 is the painful way to listen to VMs for now.
