Activating an unlocked Huawei Mate 10 Pro US Version?

I bought an unlocked Huawei Mate 10 Pro US Version after researching that with specific APN settings it is compatible with the Verizon network.  General customer service has no clue, I've been trying to reach someone who knows more about the process (i.e. an engineer who isn't a tech with canned responses and gets the same messages I get when attempting to activate the phone).  Can anyone help me with this?  Thanks!

Has the brand been allowed in the US again? They were previously banned as Huawei was deemed even more insecure than other Android devices. I'm not sure but you might check on that.

This came up while I was discussing activation with Verizon customer service, both Verizon and AT&T were set to release Huawei devices, namely the Mate 10 Pro US Version, in 2017, and there was a big push from the FCC based on concerns from US "intelligence" services that China may be spying on Huawei devices.  The customer service rep said "I'm sorry you feel this is a political issue".  I know that there are specific APN settings that make the device able to operate on Verizon 4G LTE networks with using my current SIM chip, and the device is 5G compatible.  My thought is it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other, I frankly don't do anything on my phone without using VPN that I care about, and I don't give two craps if it's the US government or the Chinese government spying on me.  The specs on the Huawei device blows anything offered by Verizon out of the water for my uses and needs.  I know that T-Mobile and Sprint allow this device, so it isn't a matter of national security, especially for little old me to be using it.
