I have been a VZW customer since 2001 when I moved east from Chicago where I had At&T.  I switched to VZW because at the time their network on the East Coast was vastly better than AT&T's was.  That is no longer the case, however. I have 4 phones on the VZW system.  I've had a Blackberry since 1998 when they were hand held email devices without a phone.  I've been waiting for the new Passport to come out to replace my current Blackberry phone.  I was angry at VZW when it didn't get the Torch with the pull down keyboard.  I now want a bigger screen but with the keyboard and email benefits of the Blackberry keyboard and email systems.  All of my phones will be off contract this coming Fall@.  If VZW doesn't get the Passport by that time I will leave VZW and move all 4 phones to back AT&T where I can get the Passport.

I'm considering leaving as well. I've got an upgrade I've been sitting on since October. I have a Samsung 4. It's okay, but I want the square screen, the keyboard, the ability to have two phone numbers, one for business, one for friends, the security and the battery life. Samsung's have awful battery lives. Not sure of the holdup, or why Blackberry would sign an exclusive longer than a few months. Dumb.

Usually they have to sign a lengthy exclusive with the carrier to get that carrier to make a commitment to BlackBerry. Thinks like minimum number of units ordered, etc. The only way the carrier will make the deal is if they can lock up exclusivity for e long enough period. BlackBerry's global market share just fell to a minuscule and insignificant 0.4%, down from 0.6$ (33% drop!). How do you convince a carrier like Verizon to say, "Sure, we'll commit to 1.5 million devices. Send 'em to us!!"??

The battery on the S4 is much smaller than my Note 3. I get 2 days with constant use, including GPS, streaming music, etc.  I use the S-pen for entries.  The conversion of handwriting to text is excellent And faster than typing with thumbs.

BLackberry choose not to make a CDMA version.

ATT customers can't get the BB in stores and have to order online.  Because of the different shape they can't get a case.  That leaves international and T-Mobile carriers.

LIttle wonder the company is having problems keeping afloat.
