You know Storm 1 users how they say "the grass is always greener on the otherside until you get there?" Well this is starting to sound like the case with Storm 2. Not enough trials on it before it was released and now it is being tried out on you, like Storm 1's were originally. If you have a Storm 1 that is working, you might want to stick with it for now until the bugs are found and worked out. My 2Cts worth.

I had the Storm 1 and it worked great up until the software update on 10/26. Then I could not get it to do much except be a phone. Even after exchanging it for another one, it was messed up. My local blackberry rep at the verizon store took care of me and got me into the storm2 for next to nothing.

I keep seeing references to "quick pul",  fixing problems, over on forums/crackberry.com.

I may give that a try.

I believe this to be a Software issue.  When I upgraded my 9530 to the 5.0 OS I ran into the same problems.  When I was in the downloads folder I could not back out of it and had to use the blackberry button to move to home screen same with my media folders.

The only thing I'm having a issue is with the back button not clicking correctly all the time. Sometimes it works great 20-25 times in a row, then for some reason it won't click. I'll have to push two or three times to make it work.

When I'm trying to do this, I'm just backing out of email mostly, back out of a web page. Just normal functions for the phone.

I did go back to the store and of course it worked fine for the guy at the counter. I asked the guy if anyone else had complained about this problem and he said no one. I was the only one.

He acted like I was trying to return it and get out of the contract..

I'm not. I actually think this is a great phone and it does everything I need it for.

I'm a little leary of taking it back and getting someone else's returned phone that may have the same other other issues. ( I've heard that story a couple times).

I'm hoping it was a software or setting issue I couls deal with.

I hate going to a store to complain about a problem and not being able to recreate it and looking like a idiot.

I'd rather do that here.:smileysurprised:

I am very grateful for any help offered.

Thanks

I bet it is a memory issue!  have you tried waiting a few and clicking the button again?  Try and go through a bunch of applications, play some music, go on the web then type a text then go to your email and hit that back button, if it lags for a little then it's the memory.  Let me know if you are able to recreate with something like this.  There is always a solution to a problem, sometimes its just not so evident.

By the way if you can list the applications you have added that would help, I am betting some of them run non stop in the background or take a while to shut down when you click end....

Michele,

it's not a lag at all. It's like the space where the button is suppose to be is just dead. No response at all. Sometimes it just takes a second attempt or sometimes it may take 4 attempts before it works. And many times it works perfectly.

I would have taken it back by now, but 2 things have stopped me. One is just lack of time.

No time at all during the week and weekends are full also.

The second thing that has me balking at exchanging it, is I have read that with exchanges like this, the new phone you get, is actually a already returned phone. Something that someone else already rejected.

I already experienced that disaster with a Storm 1.

My original Storm 1 went belly up after the upgrade. I returned it to the store and got a new one, ( I didn't know it was also a returned phone).

One hour later I was back at the Verizon store, mad as hell, with a phone that quite working before I even got home.

I've read that exchanges never involve new phones, so I'm not in a hurry to end up with someone else's problem.

I'm not sure about the memory issue you bring up.

I have two apps.

One is BerryWeather and I always close out the app when I'm done.

The other is QuickPull. This was recommended as a solution, which doesn't seem to work for this problem.

I have it set to do it's thing at 3 am every morning.

I tried one called Memory Boost, but it seemed to lock up the phone, it I deleted it.

My understanding was if it is within the first 30 days you definitely get a brand new phone.  The other side of this is the S2 has not been out long enough to get refurbished units. My 2 Ct's worth. I would go to VZW store ASAP. They are open until 8 or 9PM. Be sure you go to a VZW owned store not an independent have your receipt and all packaging plus guts of the package. If you can back it up do so.

Offiicial word is if you bring back your phone within the first 30 days of purchase for the same phone, and you bought it new, haven't damaged it and bring everything that came with the phone (accessories, box etc) you will get a new phone.  now if you bring back a phone that you have run over or dropped in the pool obviously we're not going to hand you a new phone.  But make sure you bring this phone back to the store within that 30 days!!!

Dear Michelle and Friends,

I just upgraded to a storm 2 two weeks ago. A few days after getting my unit, I noticed that the return button was not working consistently. I returned the unit and got a new replacement. After a few days of using it, again I am having the same issue this time with the end button. I can go back a few more times to exchange the unit and get a new replacement (within 30 days) but it will not solve the problem. The issue here is hardware!. I have done multiple complete wipes, battery pulls, activates, roaming updates, resets, full power off, changed phones ( to my pre-upgrade phone), wipe the storm 2 and reverted back to it with the same problem. Once the storm 2 starts to show the symptoms, that's it. It will not go back to it's original performance. First symptoms are erratic successive clicks even thought you only pressed once Normally these clicks should be one full solid click! Successive clicks feels like contact bounces.or crackling sounds rather that just one solid click. Ultimate problem is that the key will no longer respond. My question is: after all of this is done and we have changed phones so many times within 30 days, will Verizon replace our phones we have with new upgraded phones once the modifications are done. Remember that this is a hardware issue. A software issue can be remedied with an OS upgrade but with hardware issues you have got the broken piece, You need to change the hardware to solve the problem. I am going back to Verizon to have this phone replaced with a new one. Hopefully I can find one good unit in the next 15 days. On the brighter side, my returns will build up the stock of refurbished ones that will be used to replace units returned after the first 30 days of purchase.

you are lucky you were able to get back to the Verizon store in time.

I was unable to do the because of work. We started working overtime and I was not able to leave early or get any day off in time before the 30 days were up.

I went back to the Verizon store yesterday and they pretty much refused to replace the phone.

Even after having to press the button more than once to make it work. When this happened the Verizon person denied that it happened. He just said he didn't press in the right place. Yeah, like I didn't see it. They must really think we are brain dead.

I even sent a email to Verizon telling them I would not be able to get in to a store in time, but never heard back.

Even though I think this phone is for the most part great, it has it's problems.

Good luck with yours

RIM screwed up again, When they made the Storm 2 they should have just scraped the whole clickie screen thing, Feels like a keyboard, NOT. Waste of time. Too much to go wrong. Storm 1 Shotty Software and Screen didn't respond at corners. You think they would have learned. I haven't upgraded yet, And I won't be going Berry next time. I refuse to be Screwed two times in a row with a Junk phone with Major problems that neither RIM or Verizon cares to Address for their customers. I will be going Droid or Iphone, Depends on how the Droid fairs. I love Verizon service otherwise, good coverage everywhere I go and never had a problem with the CS reps, (It's not their Fault. They just work here.)
