Stolen Storm 9530

I was wondering on 11/10/09 my phone and wallet was stolen out of my car in my garage, it was my 30th day having my new contract with verizon and having the new Storm.

I went to the store to have my service stopped of course and I asked the rep behind the counter "is there anything I can do to get a replacement phone?".  he said "since you didn't have insurance on it theres nothing we can do, you can either pay $600 for the new storm or $450 for the one you have or go to ebay or get a referbished one.".

When I went and signed my contract I asked the rep about insurance I said "is there any insurance for this phone anything I may need incase something happens?" he said "not really you work in an office I wouldn't" then he cut me off and had me sign the contract and fill out papper work and got his manager to approve my discount since I work at bps by then I forgot about the insurance because I was excited to finaly be able to get a contract and my christmas present to my self.

Is there anything I can do to get another storm is there any warrenty for one something, I cant afford $600 or $400 for a new one and I dont want to spend $300 on a referb one that wouldn't come with a sim card and sd card.

I just hope there is something that can be done, I loved that phone.

Thanks for any replies.!!

I assume you have a receipt, filed a police report, and then filed on your auto insurance?

I dont remember if I got the receipt if I did its still in my box, yes I did file a police report even had three guys at 12:30am searched, I only have liability for car insurance because full coverage would cost me 175$ a month.

Do I need to take a copy of my police report and receipt into verizon would that help?

Im just lost lol I know there must be something I can do.

It shouldn't be "well it was stolen time to pay 600 for a new one" lol you know

Thanks for the reply..

Thanks

You have had 2 chances to have insurance and you turned both down or forgot to buy?

I would call CS 800-922-0204 and tell them what happened and that you have a police report and maybe, just maybe, they will let you buy a refurbished one for $50.

Good luck. Report back what they did for you, if anything?

Hey Joe, where you going with that Gun in your hand, oh that's a Hendrix song, anyway depending on your tax situation you may be able to deduct this as a casulty loss? My problem with casualty losses is they, (IRS), gives you $10,000 as a deduction before you even get to itemize, so I can't use them. But maybe you can, so hang on to your receipt and police report when you get thru using them and ask who ever does your income taxes. Maybe you also have State income tax, and they may let you use it?

Your auto policy will not cover things that are not 'attached' to your car or are vital to  your cars operation.  These items would be your personal property & that is covered under your homeowners policy for theft.  Keep in mind if you don't have it scheduled on its own policy (attached to your homeowners) you will have to pay your homeowners deductible to have this item replaced.

In reply to the car insurance post:

It stinks for you... if in doubt always... ALWAYS get the insurance.  $6 a month is well worth the replacement of a $600 phone!

Best of luck!:womanindifferent:

Well being a licensed agent, I think I know more than you, and the auto policy, if you have full coverage, covers contents in car!

Well, for the record I TOO am a LICENSED INSURANCE AGENT  (P&C and L&H... THANK YOU)  & I know that in the state of NC CONTENTS (ie; this phone) are not covered under an auto policy.  If you like I can find a copy of a policy and post it if you wish.

I have no idea what TX insurance is like and it DOES vary from state to state, so before you go getting all HIGH and MIGHTY you should stop and think about the whole situation and maybe realize that YOU & I don't live in the same state and maybe...just maybe you don't know it all after all!
