Spam Text Messages

I have been getting spam text messages.  I have already gone to Verizon's site and configured it to block all text messages originating from the internet.  Any ideas about what else I can do to stop this nonsense?  Thanks.

Also there is such a thing as Premium Text messages which Verizon acts as the billing agent for, anywhere from $9.99 per message to higher. So keep an eye on your on line bills. Usually, but not always, Verizon will remove one of these charges, but there after you are responsible for them, which is why I have all Text messaging blocked on my phone except for BBM. It's too bad a few ruin it for the many. So SPAM or not, you will be charged.

You can block premium text messages without blocking all text messaging.  My 12 year old daughter did a quiz on facebook and thought by entering her phone number she would get her score, NOT they starting charging our account $9.99 and didn't stop until I had $70.00 worth of charges!  Verizon does not have control of all of these charges and in our case I had to find out who those scammers were myself and contact them demanding refunds.  I got $30 of it back thus far...however learned a VERY important lesson....BLOCK premimum messaging and this cannot happen :smileyhappy: and leave regular messaging so she doesn't go over her minutes :smileyhappy:
