megannn,
Thank you for reaching out to us. We would be happy to assist. With Verizon service, only Verizon Wireless branded devices will work on our network. Are you currently a Verizon customer or looking to become one? We would be happy to address any other questions.
Thank you,

No, Verizon Wireless won't allow a Sprint phone to be used on its network.

Sprint will not activate a Verizon phone either. They have a database of all the IMEI numbers for the phones they've sold, so even if Verizon has the exact same model phone as Sprint, they both know if that particular one was sold by their company or by the other. So no cross-pollination allowed.

I am already a verizon customer but my phone is an older phone and I am being offered a new blackberry for a low price but it has sprint branding on it so I can't use it. I have another question, I know someone who switched from tmobile to sprint and they took her tmobile branded phone and gave her th same exact phone with sprint branding. I'm guessing verizon doesn't do this? Thanks

Because the new BlackBerrys are "world phones", they have GSM radios (T-Mobile and AT&T) as well as CDMA radios (Verizon and Sprint). Sprint and Verizon will never allow a device they did not sell themselves on their network, but the GSM carriers don't operate that way. They "lock" the phones they sell to their own networks, but once unlocked you can use a GSM phone on any GSM carrier's network. Verizon BlackBerrys come with the GSM side unlocked so they're ready to operate on T-Mobile or AT&T right out of the box.

Verizon Wireless does have a trade-in program. I don't know whether or not you would be able to get the exact same phone without having to pay any difference between the trade-in value of your Sprint phone and the VZW phone that you would receive, though.
