Hi Im having trouble with the Desktop manager application i've installed the software and it tells me that my blackberry curve 8530 smartphone is not connected my pc recognizes the phone and connects to it but not the desktop manager
I've checked the help guide and did as it suggested uninstalled the software and reinstalled among countless other things and the problem still occurs
Im running windows xp
Try enable Mass Storage Mode on your Blackberry Curve 8530. Don't know how options in curve is setup, but set Mass Storage Mode to "Prompt," that your smartphone will ask you if enable Mass Storage Mode.
With a MicroSD card already in place, go to "Options" Media Card Mass Storage Support. Ensure the option here is set to "On".
Now when you plug your BlackBerry in to your PC via USB you will be prompted to turn on Mass Storage Mode, select “Yes” and type in your password if prompted.
K tried that turned on mass storage reconnected phone to pc and desktop manager still says my phone isnt connected and the device connected pin at the bottom says none pc still says its connected as usual i can open the phone and view the items on it just not with desktop manager could it be that i have a slot radio card or is that considered a micro sd card as well
I have the slotradio+ memory card it was the only one offered on the verizone wireless accessories page online
over a week now and the desktop manager software for blackberry curve 8530 still fails to detect my phone all though my pc detects it just fine but im still stuck and unable to update the device software using the desktop manager
maybe i just figured it out my curve software is v 4.2 and my desktop manager is v5.0.1 i wonder if i updated the device software if that could be the problem?
I have seen this issue with older desktop software but not the other way around. If I understand your setup, you have a 8530 with v4.2 on it? It should be a newer OS than that. Also, if you have desktop manager v5.0.1, it should be able to detect and access older phones.
We do it all the time when upgrading older blackberries with new ones. Now if the Desktop manager is v.4.2 and the OS is 5.0.x, then that would make more sense why it is not detecting the device. The 8530s come with 5.0.x OS now by default so this would make more sense to me.
