Ok I been having a blackberry 8530 for a couple months now.Well it never lost signal not one time ever.It was always stable,no problems.well i spilt drink on it and had to get it replaced.Well they sent me another blackberry.Well all was fine, now its droppin signals like crazy in here. When it never had the trouble before.I go outside and it gets full signal and its like it still acts funny.when im in here i have a few signal bars and i try to send a text and it fails.Im about up to here with it.I switched from att to verizon for that same problem. Is it the phone?Because i never had the problem till recently.I would even lose 3g,it would go 1x.whatever that is.I about lost my mind earlier when it did it.this is my bedroom.I spend alot of my time in here at night .

The phone works great besides that.It just feels like the signal on this phone is crappy compared to the other one i had shipped off.advice anyone? i paid 89 dollars to have it replaced.i was better off keeping the dead one.As you can tell im a bit frustrated.I love verizon this has been the smartest move we have ever done when it comes to phone services.

I brag about it all the time how we never lose signal to att customers. Now all a sudden with this phone only.its being a turd nugget. If you guys got any advice let me know.Because i cant just dish out 89 dollars everytime i got a phone issue.

Problem solved.Call verizon,or go to a local store, they will order you a new phone if its under warranty.they beleive it is the phone itself.so hopefully the problem gets fixed.

Hey,

I would try calling *228 and selecting option 2 to update your PRL.  This can take up to two minutes to perform.  When done, go into your Options to Mobile Network.  Set Network Technology to 1XEV.  I think it is set to Global by default.  Anyways, usually just updating your PRL will do the trick.  You can do this about once a month, as the towers are usually updated with new information about every month.  When done, pull the battery and allow the device to reset.  Hope this helps.

Hi,

I believe you can disregard the network settings.  The 8530 is not a global device, therefore it will not have the Global option for accessing GSM networks overseas.  For example, on my Bold 9650, I can change the network technology and connect to GSM networks overseas, provided I use my Sim card and set it up in advance of travelling.  It has been noted on those global devices that while in the US, if you set your phone to 1XEV instead of global, it will keep your device from dropping calls.  Sorry I did not notice which device you had.  I am hoping the *228 fixed your problem.

Still having the same issue.im not sure what to do now.i would ask verizon for a new phone.but it wont happen.i guess i have to deal with it for now.its pathetic i have to go outside to keep a phone call from being dropped.my other phone before it got replaced never not once dropped a signal.so if u ask me it has to do with the phone, rather then verizon.im so frustrated .im going to end up walking into verizon wireless store come tuesday.im not sure.i do apreciate the help tho.anymore advice.do you think verizon would help or just pretty much make me pay another 89 dollars for a replacement,.because if it came to that.i would be done with the cellphones period.money dont grow on trees.

This is the reason i left att.Same exact reason.

Hi,

The only other thing for now I can think of is to make sure you are running the latest system software for your device.  I believe it is version 5.0.0.973.  If you have never updated your device, doing so may solve your problem.  If you need help in doing so, please let me know and I can post the instructions for you.

This does appear to be an equipment issue, rather than a network problem. Please feel free to PM me, with an alternate number where you can be reached for additional troubleshooting, and I will be happy to reach out to you. Please be in the area of concern when troubleshooting.

Thanks,

I am having the same exact problems and am at the end of my rope with the runaround.  And since Verizon's tech support can't figure it out, I'll be switching since other people who come to my home on other carriers do not have any problems.

Been having this problem for about a year and it's happening on ALL 3 of the phones on my plan when inside our home--2 Blackberries and 1 LG ENV.  We've lived in our home for 7 years and this just started happening a year ago.

We have to go outside in the front driveway to take any calls.  And if we walk back inside the home, the call gets dropped.

We called tech support, they opened a trouble ticket and told us for a week that when we experience a dropped call to dial *** and send, and when the voice recording comes on (says we dialed a wrong number) we can hang up.  Well, I dropped HALF OF THOSE CALLS!

They researched it, had tech support drive the area, and they can't figure it out.  Say the signal is fine and the only thing they can think of is that traffic is up.  REALLY?  They told us there are 6 towers within a half mile of us.  Remember, I've been with Verizon for SEVEN years with no problems until about a year ago.  Have had our current phones for 2-3 years so it's not the phone.  Have done the 228 thing many times as well as the Verizon tech folks.  Have had them push all kinds of various updates to all our phones and still having the same problems.  And this is only with Verizon.  If anyone comes to our house and has a Verizon phone, they drop calls.  If someone comes to our home with AT&T, they are fine.  And, having talked to others who live in our community---if they have Verizon's service they are having the same problems.

Hope you're reading this Verizon.  You've got about $250 a month from me for 7 years that you're getting ready to lose.

Hey sorry i havent posted in awhile.im having the same issue.I had a perfectly good blackberry.it never not once dropped a signal anywhere.i would go to anyones house and they couldnt get signals but i could with my verizon phone.now its the other way around since i got my phone replaced..,we purchased our phones on verizonwireless.com,but could i walk into verizon store and maybe have my phone checked out?.we have a upgrade in july and im wishing for  july to come so fast.

I refuse to pay another 89 dollars for a replacement phone .i have to go outside to talk just like  hadley said.i answer my phone in here i hear people but they cant hear me and i drop signal.i go outside im fine.also with texting  it drops signal when texting in here.now a few days ago i dropped a signal outside?.i need to know what can be done about it?.Not just what i need to do,but what should i as a customer do to fix my phone problem? and what will verizon do to fix the issue at hand? will they replace my phone, will i have to pay another fee. thats what i need to know,if it involves money i need to know before hand.

Thats what i need to know.aslong as we as customers are paying our fees monthly,we want our phones working correcty.if i can get this issue fixed locally at the verizon store i will.i rather do it in person so i can talk face to face to a verizon tech.

Whats your opinions.
