Also remember that you purchased the phone with one set of functionality on it, and Verizon, without your permission decreased that functionality *after the sale of the device*.

State Attorney General offices *exist* for this kind of consumer protection.

I would suggest that everyone, hopefully from all 50 states contact their State Attorney General's Office and file a consumer proteciton complaint on this matter.

Having the Attorney Generals Office of 50 States breathing down their necks might just get your functionality back.  Keep in mind, the Attorney General's office can require compensation to victims, and THEY don't take a percentage of the "damages" (Look at what Microsoft had to refund to every microsoft customer in the state of Iowa for every copy of most Microsoft products purchased in the state over a multi year period.)  The AG's office also has the authority to prevent a company from doing business in the state.

Unfortunately I can not get involved since Android devices apparenlty are not affected, so I can not file a complaint for my state.

If you happen to live in the State of Iowa, here is a link to the AG's office where you can file an online complaint.

Go here with your BB

http://m.opera.com/next

to download and install Opera Mini 5 beta, and you'll not only get your search back but a far superior Web browser in comparison to the gawd awful one Verizon only further borked by limiting the search box to Bing.

I'm using it on my Storm 2 since this morning and works like a champ.  "Tab" browsing too, better zooming, panning about the page... just tweak your options...

Verizon, you got this one wrong!  Look at the frustrated customer postings above to confirm my conclusion.  I pay extra to use the best wireless provider in the US, but I expect to have options in the features I use rather than having you choose what you think is best for me...which is certainly not a mediocre Microsoft product!  If you're getting compensated by Microsoft for this decision, shame on you!  We pay plenty for your service, so subsidy from a vendor of your choice should not be necessary.

Please give us back our choices!

Maybe we should file a class action law suit, Verizon getting paid for shoving Bing down our throats, but We are the customer paying for a service.
