Transfer Contacts from LG Cosmos 2 to LG Env3?

I know someone who had to upgrade from the LG Cosmos 1 to the Cosmos 2 because the "slider" mechanism wore out. She HATES, HATES, HATES the Cosmos 2 - mostly due to the laggy UI.

In doing research, the LG Env3 still ranks to be one of the best non-data, text-friendly basic phone. I may be able to find a used LG Env3 but in very good condition through a reputable Ebay seller.

Question 1: How can I transfer contacts from the Cosmos 2 to the new Env3? Will the Verizon Store Tech Department do this for me upon activation?

Question 2: How do I ensure that an ESN is clean? Last time I called Verizon to verify an ESN on an Ebay Phone, the CSR assured me that it was clean. After buying the used phone, I went to the store and the rep said the ESN was NOT clean. I double-checked and it was indeed the same ESN......
