if you don't understand, stay out. Its not your concern, and its rude and inconsiderate to invalidate or minimize other people's concerns just because you don't understand them.

So, since we arent going to get smaller phones and we are going to be stuck with only  big chunks of rock when 3g disappears, which of the chunks of 4G rock

1) have voice to text ability

AND

2) have non-threaded texts with separate inbox/outbox, or at least have that as an option

also

3) I still have 3G in my home area. Is it going to shut off no later than January 1, 2021 or is it possibly going to linger a while longer?

Good questions. Voice to text is standard in just about every smartphone available. In fact that option and your second question both have the same answer. That is something that will be determined by the app you choose to use for texting. For most messaging apps, you will have many options to control how texting works. For the 3G retirement, it would be best to be prepared before the end of the year.

This thread is about BASIC FLIP PHONES.

You didn't answer any of my question.

After 1/01/2021 CDMA services will begin to shutdown. You may be able to hang on a little longer, as it will not happen all at once. We couldn't locate a 4G basic phone that has voice to text. For text message threads, they are grouped by the contact or the number that texted you. We hope this information was helpful.   CassieG_VZW

And basic flip phones these days are dumb down versions of Android.

I know this thread is old, but I am in the same boat.  The gusto was a great line of phones.  I am also using the Cadence now and hate it and its txt box.  Any other suggestions?  What did you finally end up using.
