phone locked me out because too many attempts(5 year old) used gmail name & password but is telling me it's wrong. any hints to by pass this
There is no way to bypass this. A similar thing was in the news a while back where the feds were trying to get information from a suspect's (who was also on parole, with part of his parole being he had to give access to his phone) phone. They finally had to subpoena Google to get his account information to get in. Double, triple check that you have your info right and try again.
If you are locked out, your only recourse is to visit your local Verizon store. They can unlock it for you by using a special PUK code. I don't know if third party stores, such as Best Buy, can do that for you as well. Still, the best bet is going to a local Verizon store.

By now I'm sure that you have found a way into your phone. A locked phone can be quite frustrating to deal with, especially if you are confident that you have the correct Gmail password. In the future, I recommend confirming that the password is correct online at www.gmail.com first. If you are able to access your email using a computer then a hard reset may need to be done to regain access to the phone.
Once the hard reset has been completed, you can re-setup your phone and test all of your voice and data services that you are subscribed to. While going through the setup wizard after the reset, you can re-enter your Gmail account and your contacts, Gmail calendar entries, and apps can be restored.
