I used to live in San Francisco bay area and have had no problems. In July I moved south to Banning Ca. Since moving here half the time I only get 3G service. I do restarts and sometimes it comes back up to 4G. I can't see paying for 4G when I'm only getting 3G half the time. My service contract for upgrade expires 2/15/15 I might start looking for a better cell provider for this area evidently Verizon coverage is poor in this area. Any suggestions?
The data plan is for 3G or 4G LTE data. There is no distinction between the various types of data you can get on your phone.

Well if Verizon doesn't have good coverage in that area they don't have good coverage. You should go with a carrier that has the coverage you need.
