trying to download the new update... it says its available but when download is finished it says it was unsuccessful due to error 405. how can I fix that??

I was getting the 405 error as well with a Note 4.
I used Verizon's software upgrade assistant and it worked for upgrading it. Here is the link that shows how to set it up and use it: http://www.verizonwireless.com/dam/support/pdf/system_update/galaxys4-sua-06-02-14.pdf

Same issue on Note 4 as well. Went to the VZW store and spoke to tech support. They are clueless, telling me I need to reset my phone it's not their problem...

Then either reset it and start over, call customer care for a replacement if you still under warranty, or send it to the manufacturer to fix. Quite simple.
