WiFi choked by mysterious uploads on Droid Maxx

When connected to WiFi, my Droid Maxx is always uploading something. It prevents me from doing anything like checking email or browsing the web. How can I find out what the log jam is?

Check your Google account sync settings within the phones main menu under accounts.  You might have Google + or Drive enabled and is backing up everything you save or any picture, music, videos you have on the phone.  Verizons Cloud service might also be to blame.

You can also check your mobile data usage settings and toggle wifi usage and look at what apps are using the most wifi data.

That only seems to show what I download via WiFi but not what I'm uploading.

It shows the total use whether it is up or down loading.

If you are using some sort of cloud backup, it's more than likely it trying to push everything you have to the cloud.

Most Internet providers only give 1-4 Mbps. so if you have Gigabytes of pics and music to upload you're going to be there a LONG time. 8GB of pictures is 64,000 Megabits of data.  At 1 Mbps upload it will take at least 64,000 seconds (17+ HOURS) (longer because of overhead) to do a backup.

That's true:  we often forget that our download speeds are 10+ times faster than our upload speeds.  If you were to take a short video clip and Google Plus or Drive or Verizon cloud were to automatically upload that video, either instantly or on a sync schedule, you'd feel the drag.
