Why do I just get my reflection and that of my background when I try to take a picture either into or behind the sun? I have a Galaxy 4 with a Ballistic cover with a rather thick protection sheet. I have been to two Verizon stores & neither place has been helpful with my problem.

First thing I would try is to remove the cover and see if the problem is still there. Then at least you will know for sure.

Actually I took the phone into the local Verizon store (where 2 young men were absolutely useless with help even to the point where they had trouble removing & replacing the cover as well as helpful information for my problem) and removed the cover completely. I increased the brightness and tried with several different settings but the problem still remains. The camera feature is of no use whatsoever in bright sunlight. There must be some solution to this problem. The young men in the store suggested I purchase another phone!!! Thank you

So... when you say reflection, do you mean like it shows as it would with the front facing camera instead of the rear?

When I try to take pictures in shade or darker situations, there is no problem. When it is in sunlight, I get the outside of the picture that I want to take but 75% of the inside of the picture showing on the screen shows me and whatever background is near me. I have the setting correct as far as which way I am taking the picture because it works when I move to a darker area. I have tried with and without the cover for the phone and still get the same reflection.

Is the protector cover over your camera lens ??? and can you post a photo of your camera settings? This is an odd ball to work.

What modes are you using on your camera when this happens?
