Verizon in last place as always.........

:robotmad:   Ok this isn't a tech question or problem that I'm having with my phone. This is more of a my ranting and venting. Some may think it's petty some may think it's childish some may agree and some don't. But it makes me feel better and I would like to hear what other people think as well. Possibly open a debate.

So I am an android fan. Absolutely love what my Droid Incredible has done for the past year and 4 months and now that it's time to upgrade I have been really paying attention to the recent announcements on the new dual core droid phones. BTW there is a fantastic app that allows me to get up to date info on all thing droids as a widget it's called Tech Buzz it's in the market and it's free so check it out. It also has tech vids, gaming, tech news, gadgets, a mobile setting for all things mobile and my personal fav. a android setting for all things droid. So anyways back to what I was saying so I have maybe 4 or 5 months until my contract with VZW is up and I can upgrade if I like but me being a Droid fan and a spec junkie when I look to upgrade to a new device I want to get the best of the best specifically a new Dual Core 1 - 1.2 GHz either Tegra or Snapdragon Processor Phone with a minimum of 1gig of Ram and 4.3 inch screen super high resolution with 4G LTE for the basic specs.

And VZW has announced an ONSLAUGHT of New devices coming to them but on closer inspection out of the 8 of them only 2 were mention to be Dual Core one being the Moto Bionic & The Droid 3(MAYBE). Now the Droid 3 was really just leaked and just recieved the bluetooth certification so that will be a long while before that phone will hit the market. Ok so that leaves Moto Bionic which I like the way it looks and that it has Dual core but when I looked at the Atrix having a gig of ram and the atrix with half that and some other specs the Atrix has that beat out the Bionic it's like I would be getting the retarded cousin of the Atrix. And now there is a new rumor if you haven't heard that Verizon has scrubbed the Bionic all together in favor of a different Moto phone called the Targa from a really reliable source. In fact the source leaked some photos of the Targa with that bit of info.

Meanwhile carriers like AT&T, T-Mo, & Sprint are all stocking up on the best phones from HTC, Moto, Samsung, and other manufacturers. Sprint EVO 3d Optimus S , AT&T Atrix,HTC Sensation, T-Mo Samsung Galaxy S II & the G2 VERIZON NONE! Especially this year. So all the Verizon customers who were wanting to upgrade to a dual core device verizon wants you to upgrade to a single core for roughly the same amount of money as the other carriers dual core phones and on top of that no longer have 1 year contracts so your stuck with it for 2 years. Also they did away with the early upgrade as well so you literally will have to keep the phone legally bound by contract to pay each month for a phone that's technically behind every other phone coming on other carriers.

Now I have a theory as to why this may be. I could be wrong I have no problem admitting that this is specifically me saying this I haven't read it any where so this is not fact, but it is very suspicious. When AT&T got the Iphone exclusively as the only carrier to carry that phone it was widely known that ATT purposefully would get the worst phones especially when Droid started to really challenge the Iphone in capabilities and design and price on the market. Yet ATT would get the absolute worst Droid phones compared to the Iphon as to not have another device out sell or out do the Iphone in price or functionality bcoz the iphone was their flagship device. Now VZW I'm starting to see the same issue all the other carriers are getting the best Droid Phones and VZW is basically lagging in the spec department maybe bcoz of the new Iphone 5 is coming and they don't want any device to still it's thunder when it is launched. This is just speculation.

But if this is indeed the case I will be leaving VZW for Sprint or Tmo for a much better device in 5 months I'm not going to wait another year which will be 3 to upgrade from my Droid Incredible to a newer version of the Droid Incredible but the only thing that changed was the screen got bigger and  a front facing camera not even 4g! Who would do this? Only people who don't know what they're looking for or have no idea they will be paying just about the same amount for a technically infererior device.

Ok I'm done with my rant and venting . VZW get off your butts and get the customers who do pay attention and aren't suckers who want good specs because they are important especially when they're roughly the same price with a 2yr agreement.

Very little fact spread through out this..

Vzw has always had great devices, that either meet or exceed what competitors have

It wouldn't make sense for manufacturer to not have devices on vzw network considering how large it is

Sit back and relax, every 4 months there will be something new

Overall what this poster says is fact.  Don't know about deals with apple but I would bet if there were any it was over the ipad not the old outdated iphone they put out.  Verizon you better stop listening to your tech guys pound iphone iphone into your head and look at the numbers you leave the android users and updated phones out of the mix they will leave you out of the mix.  Every other carrier has a new tech phone announced.  ATT already has atrix tmobile has even better g2x coming out next Wednesday or today if you order on line.  Sprint evo3d.  You have not announced anything that is next gen along with 4g other than the bionic which was the buzz of the internet yesterday of yet more delays or cancellation all together and what do you do nothing refuse to comment at all. 2 calls to Verizon we don't have any info on release dates for the bionic , we don't have information on unreleased phones so I don't have any info on that for you.

VERIZON PLEASE READ-- do not slow the output of great android phones to push the iphone 5 . Those that want the iphone 5 will get it those that want the android phones will get them.  With maybe a 5% difference with people going with what's the latest at the time.  Either way both stay on Verizon.

If all you offer is a 4g iphone 5 and non 4g android or 4g on single processors only -some with year old processors(charge)

than you will not have the android only people and if you look at the numbers not presented by apple that is a much larger number.

This is not a bitching session.  This is in hopes that whoever at Verizon has set them on this current path will rethink(yeah intentional :smileyhappy:)

the future path. Or at least open up and come out and say hey these guys want this much money to release these phones at this time and we have determined to spend that money in other areas is more beneficial to your future on Verizon, something. With what we are seeing now doing away with this doing away with that. Nothing announced to compete with any of the other carriers in hardware.  And this all with the threat of tiered service coming without any details.  I only want 2 things from any company I deal with information and a good product.   With phones this comes to 3 things.

What                                         Verizon score

1) coverage                              a++

2)information                            f

3)latest technology available   d

all I see in any forum is disappointment over Verizon or their phones.

The thunderbolt/;charge both decent devices but not for the 2nd quarter of 2011. Guess that's why they were originally announces 6 months ago.

This is all great news for the land based phone companies.  We aren't as hooked as you think direct TV for 10 years cable for 15 prior to that now back to an antenna due to the continued greed of these companies and not missing it at all.

I love having all the info available I have with a smart phone but I did without it for 42 years so IM betting I can learn to do without it again.

If we don't speak up than they will continue along their path hopefully not the same person that decided to put bing on and android device. which who knows maybe is a better one than we think it is but without any information we can only see what we can see and it doesn't appear that way. And with comments of were doing away with 1 year contracts because people don't want them or as tmobile saying its OK to limit speeds after 2 gigs because none uses more than that. Well if either of these are the case than leave them alone since none utilizes them right?

The above grades avg to around a c-  which in college for many careers is not a passing grade.

im sure this falls on deaf ears but as people say if you dont vote than dont complain. so here is my vote get in the game, get the new devices, either tier or dont tier make up your minds and help us make up ours.

Eagle and DJKoz, this stuff of which you speak is called "opinion" and "conjecture". It's your thoughts and your thoughts only. No one has died and given you guys power and dominion over what is right and wrong with Verizon's phone offerings.
The catch to any phone, regardless of how fast, cool, quick, sharp, is, ...watch it now....CAN YOU MAKE A FRIGGIN' PHONE CALL ON THE THING??
(AHEM)
If you are in an area where AT&T's, Sprint's, T-Mobile's (oh, but wait...) latest and greatest phones actually work, then more power to you. I've done my time hedged my bet on other carriers.
Just consider this a friendly counter-point or rebuttal to your expression of your opinion.
I base my devices around MY life, not the other way around. Think about it...

I'm going by my own research. Before I posted anything on the forum last night I have been doing my research on Verizon's device's for the past month. Because if I chose to I could upgrade, but VZW doesn't have anything I want to upgrade to right now because all of their devices recently announced are technically inferior. Do your research and you will see compared to the other devices and I'm not going to pay 200.00 bucks for a 2 year agreement for a technically inferior phone when in 5 months I can leave VZW go to sprint or t-mo and pay the same amount for a Dual Core 4g 4.3" QHD or Super Amoled  possibly 3d device with a 1 gig of ram meanwhile VZW keeps putting out Single core devices half of them not even 4g enabled. I did my research how bout you?

And about the theory of VZW Iphone purposefully dragging their feet bcoz of the Iphone 5. If you read my post again more closely I clearly stated that this was speculation, no fact behind it however then other statements are true. There is a rumor that VZW has indeed scrubbed the MOTO Bionic in favor of another Moto Phone the Targa which no one even knows what the specs are on that. Or however long it might be before VZW even sees it on the network. VZW seems to me with their phones either add some really cool tech but take other cool tech away to put on another device for example Droid X2 possibly the rumor today that it is in fact a Dual Core phone looks nearly identical to the original except a better screen resolution and 4g Lte but no front facing camera but the Droid Incredible 2 Front facing camera larger screen 4g but no dual core. LAME!! I want the whold package especially if I'm signing another 2 year contract and since you can no longer sign up for a 1 year contract (WHICH IS FACT) also Verizon has done away with early upgrade on 2year contracts (WHICH IS FACT)look it up. So for someone like me who wants the whole package again especially because of those several reasons and the fact of paying 200- 250.00 and a 2 year contract. I don't think it's too much to ask.

EXCELLENT point, Gerio.  Wow.  Some people need to just chill, relax, put the phone down for a few minutes, go outside, look at the sky, and breathe deeply.

Okay, a 28-hour day and 4 hours of sleep make for a red-letter opportunity. So, as my dear friends on the west side of the Mississippi river say, "Hold my beer and watch this"...(actually, I don't drink, but it sounded appropriate at the time...

I'm going by my own research. Off to a good start, yes, yes...Before I posted anything on the forum last night I have been doing my research on Verizon's device's for the past month. Because if I chose to(insert comma here) I could upgrade, but VZW doesn't have anything I want to upgrade to right now because all of their devices recently announced are technically inferior. So does that mean that these devices are unsuitable for everyone? That was the point of my entire response. I didn't dispute your findings (if you do research so well, then how in the hell did you miss that part of my response?), I just challenged your notion that it makes Verizon a lousy phone company. If you're going to offer your opinion so freely, then don't get offended when your point of view is challenged. Kinda what's wrong with our political system (the entire population, not just the folks trying to run the place). Do your research and you will see compared to the other devices (,) I'm not going to pay 200.00 bucks for a 2 year agreement for a technically inferior phone when in 5 months I can leave VZW go to sprint or t-mo and pay the same amount for a Dual Core 4g 4.3" QHD or Super Amoled  possibly 3d device with a 1 gig of ram(. M)eanwhile VZW keeps putting out Single core devices half of them not even 4g enabled. I did my research how bout you? I haven't researched a dayum thing, didn't need to, don't care. See, that's the beaty of being me. I'm thankful that my life isn't wrecked because of the points that you are hot and bothered about. And that last bit of prose is perfectly fine if it fits your needs and wants. I assure you that for many hundreds of thousands of people, you might as well be quoting "The Cat in the Hat", for all they care (I'll admit, I fall in the middle of the entire group somewhere. If I like the phone and what it does, then specs be dayumed. You know how many speaker systems I've auditioned with wonderful numbers and specs, but in reality, they sound like cats fighting in burlap sacks? And don't ask me my opinion on the car audio industry...oooh...)

And about the theory of VZW Iphone purposefully dragging their feet bcoz of the Iphone 5. Ever had to divide your loyaties between a Mom, sister, wife, or girlfriend?  I imagine that's somewhat akin to being stuck between Google, Motorola, Apple, HTC, Samsung, LG, and Microsoft. Better them than me!  If you read my post again more closely No need, I did indeed read it closely, it's YOU that didn't read my response thoroughly I clearly stated that this was speculation, no fact behind it however then other statements are true. You did indeed state that, but in the process, you might as well have declared it the Gospel according to DJKoz (any relation to Dave Koz?). Words and tone insinuate a certain meaning to the reader, regardless of how you wish to spin it. There is a rumor that VZW has indeed scrubbed the MOTO Bionic in favor of another Moto Phone the Targa which no one even knows what the specs are on that. This rumor has been dispelled and re-spelled several times in the last few days, so who knows. I fail to see where quoting this rumor lends any creedence to your argument, but whatever. It can't be presented as evidence. Try again...Or however long it might be before VZW even sees it on the network. VZW (insert another comma here) seems to me (insert yet another comma here) with their phones either add some really cool tech but take other cool tech away to put on another device (uhh) for example Droid X2 possibly the rumor today that it is in fact a Dual Core phone looks nearly identical to the original except a better screen resolution and 4g Lte (ahem) but no front facing camera but the Droid Incredible 2 Front facing camera larger screen 4g but no dual core. (I give up, my eyes just glazed over) LAME!! I want the whol(e) package especially if I'm signing another 2 year contract and since you can no longer sign up for a 1 year contract (WHICH IS FACT) also Verizon has done away with early upgrade on 2year contracts (WHICH IS FACT)look it up So do you like taking candy from babies, too? The 1-year contract removal one has been all over the place for a week now. Too easy, dude. So for someone like me who wants the whole package again especially because of those several reasons and the fact of paying 200- 250.00 and a 2 year contract. I don't think it's too much to ask. Neither is some punctuation and spelling, but I think we are past that from here....

My point in my response still stands. YOU read it again. I never denied the facts you presented, I just challenged your notion that it makes Verizon an inferior mobile phone service carrier. The MOST GLARING omission of your entire point is that the phones offered by the carrier are half of the equation (look it up). The SERVICE (you know...the ability to make and receive a phone call) is the other half. I have many friends that are trying to DIVE out of contracts with Sprint and T-Mobile just to get phone service that works reliably (and I'll grant you, that applies to this area of the country. Read that part again, in case you try to offer a rebuttal. I just did. Sorry). And forgive me, but I was thinking that ANY phone is only as good as the carrier offering it. What's YOUR thoughts on that point?
Anyway, I need a nap.

Uh-oh! Someone brought out the red letters. :smileywink:

When I originally choose Verizon (Air Touch) as my cell carrier it was because they had the biggest footprint for coverage and had an agreement with Alltel that allowed me to use Alltel's towers where my family lived. Air Touch merged into Verizon and my coverage either didn't change or it improved. Fast forward to November 2009 I purchased my first smartphone, a HTC Droid Eris. I considered the Motorola Droid, but I didn't need the keyboard. Still, don't in fact. Nowdays the Eris is a bit long in the tooth. I still enjoyed using it. In the meantime, I learned more about this "Trust Market" of Verizon that I was in. The towers and customer accounts had been sold to AT&T per the requirements of the FCC approval to the Verizon/Alltel merger. So here I am on a cell carrier where I get the coverage I need and phone I want to use. Because of the technology differences I got a new phone from AT&T and my cell service was transitioned from Verizon to AT&T. According to the website AT&T setup for the customers in this transition, the coverage will be similar to what I had with Verizon. However, AT&T failed in this respect. The phone (HTC Aria) I received from AT&T is a nice little phone, not the newest thing in the world, but it compared evenly to the Eris. When I learned and realized that the network AT&T delivered was not going to work, I looked at possibility of purchasing a new phone from Verizon or reactiving the Eris. The other cell carriers in the area don't quite cover where I need it to. The choices from Verizon I considered were the Droid X, Droid 2 Global, and the Thunderbolt. I don't have 4G LTE here, yet, so that was a minus for the Thunderbolt. The global option was a bonus, but not needed for me. The Droid X and the D2G both had Blur. Everytime I would test it out in the store, I would always be disappointed or meh in my feelings towards the UI. In the end all would have met my needs so I went with the one I felt most comfortable with. While there will be more devices coming in the next few months, I will still be happy with the Thunderbolt or the Eris. Maybe when my contract is up I will look again at another carrier, but until then I say Verizon is my preferred choice and I can say "I gave AT&T a chance, but they couldn't deliver the network."

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

And, unfortunately, AT&T is trying to buy T-Mobile. I wouldn't use AT&T for land line or cell phone. Don't know what will happen to T-Mobile, which was fairly decent, once AT&T sinks their teeth into it. That leaves Sprint, which has improved tremendously in the past year.
