Hello,
My VS986 LGG4 is showing underclocked @1.44GHz according to all benchmarks and monitoring.
I was wondering if I should return my device as it is not hitting 1.8GHz per specs @ http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-VS986-Metallic-Gray-g4/technical-specifications
I have seen others with the same. LGE VS986 - Geekbench Browser

I would assume the quad core is for regular operations and the dual core is for GPU.

Actually the dual core is for every day applications and the quad core is for performance boost.

Could be the other way around.

Adreno 418 GPU. I couldn't find info on which operations the dual core handled vs the quad core.

I am 100% sure it does a low power state and a performance state and it switch between cores. I just don't remember if the quad or dual core kicks in first.

That's what I was thinking was most likely the case. A lot like Moto did with the 8 cores they ran in the Maxx.
