Shared plan

Read in the business section of our local fish wrapper that AT&T is following in Verizon's footsteps. They too are going for a shared plan. No big surprise. What floored me is that Verizon is charging $90 for one (1) GB. I hope that this is true for only the shared plans. Is the 2GB for $30 still in effect for non-share plans? If not, looks like my next phone is going to be a clam-shell or a candy bar style (dumb phone).

The individual tiered data plans are available for existing customers. For new customers, the shared data plans are the only choice. Unless pre-paid is your cup of tea.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

$90 includes $50 for 1GB plus $40 for the smartphone.

Before it was $30 for 2GB plus whatever the cost of your plan.

Before, the plan was the base price, and you added additional lines (and features like data). With Share Everything, the data pool could be considered the base price, and you add additional devices, up to 10, not just phones.

I think AT&T was smart to allow new subs to select either the old or new plan depending oh which works out best. These shared plans seem to benefit those with many devices, large families, but not necessarily singles or two-member families.

Shared plan even if you only have one phone and no devices other than that one phone? That really stinks. Ann154, you know that I've been a happy Verizon customer. I've never, ever, complained, since I have never had anything to complain about. But if I have to start paying $200 a month...I'm going to have to think this one out. I really don't want to switch to Sprint or T-Mobile. I definitely will not go with AT&T. Going to have to think this one out.

If you have one phone, how do you get to the figure of $200 a month?

$130 for phone and 2GB of data. Then we throw in roughly $6 for Assurion Insurance, and don't forget the taxes and surcharges. Okay, granted, maybe not quite $200 but more than I'm paying for right now by roughly $40. A Verizon associate checked my figures and told me that I was correct and that I'd be better off staying with my current plan, which I am.
