Samsung Stratosphere Battery

I've had my phone for a little over a month now and I've had a few problems with the battery. The first problem is that every once in awhile I'll plug my phone in and it will say it's charging and charge up to 100% and tell me to unplug it. However, when I unplug my phone it goes back down to 30%.

Also, I'll plug my phone in and it will show that it's charging but the battery will diminish instead of charging. At first when this happened if I restarted the phone it would work. I know it's not the charger because it's happened with multiple chargers. Now even when I restart the phone it doesn't fix the problem. Also, when it does charge up it will only charge a few percent before diminishing again. If the problem persists I'm taking my phone into the Verizon store but I most likely won't get an opportunity to take it into the store until at least Saturday. Is there anyway for me to fix my phone on my own, or to at least get my phone to charge until I can take it into the store?

Have you had the Less than 14 days ?  You might try Charging the phone in the OFF position an see what it Does If you have allot apps on the Device and it's on while Charging it. It can take longer to Charge as the Apps can still Run in the Back Ground. So charging can be best achieved when the Unit is off..b33 Smiley Happy

I don't have personal experience with this, but it sounds like it could be a battery problem. If so, I doubt if you can fix it on your own.

However, it's also possible that some rogue app is doing things in the background to drain the battery even while you're charging it. You might go through the apps that are installed (Home > Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Downloaded) and see what you might have installed recently that could be doing this; or see if there's anything unexpected there.

I agree with other contributors about apps running during charging, and charging the phone while it's off.  It will also charge faster if you use the wall charger instead of a computer.  If there are no apps draining the battery while the phone is charging, or charging while the phone is off doesn't work, you can buy a replacement Samsung battery for less than $20.  For 20 bucks it isn't worth worrying a whole lot about the situation.

I was having the same trouble with my stratosphere...seems like I have to use a charger just for the Samsung Stratosphere and it will charge correctly; when I used a generic that should work for most is when I had the trouble you are describing.
