The trouble is that both Samsung and Verizon know that they're going to get away with it. That's why neither company will issue a public statement about the matter, but will continue to sell the product, despite knowing that it has problems and that a number of the claims they make about what it does are, at this point, false. The only way to fix the matter is with more pressure. The only time large companies listen these days is when something starts making waves on-line, and their PR people suddenly realize that that they're about to look bad to potentially millions of people. My suggestion? Get on Facebook, get on Google Plus, get on Twitter and ask:  [removed link to third party site] And tell everyone you know to do the same.

edit: pfffft. Figures. There's a Facebook page called "Where's My Update." Look it up. First post is about the Continuum.

You just need to do the same thing that the owners of the Fascinate did a few months ago, and that was constantly asking verizon through Facebook, Twitter, news outlets, anywhere it can be publicly asked, "Why has there been no updates published for the Continuum?"

I did. I was quietly banned and all my mentions about it erased. That's why I started the Facebook group "where's my update." I've heard similar stories from others.

Chatted with Samsung Customer Serivce this morning.  Asked about 2.2 update, especially now that Fascinate has 2.3.  I was told that there was no information on when an update would be coming.  I asked why the Continuum wasn't given priority now that other, even newer, phones have been getting updates.  The only thing they would state is that 2.2 is coming.  I don't believe it.  How about you?

I think Samsung and Verizon both have stopped any support, other than mandatory warranty work, on this phone.  And to think, the only thing I'm asking for now is the reason we are not getting it.  I've given up expecting it a long time ago, I just want to know why.  That seems to be too much for either Samsung or Verizon (considering this thread has been out here for almost two weeks with not even one response from a Verizon rep).

A new forum will not have us forget that Verizon has forgotten us.  We will not let them push us into silence, even if they do decide not to migrate all of our posts.  We want our update.

Read an interesting article today in regards to Galaxy S phones and ICS.  Seems the phone can handle it, hardware-wise.  The problem is that it can't handle ICS and Touchwiz combined.  So, that's one of the reasons these phones will never see ICS.  Seems Samsung had devised a "Value Pack" to appease owners, but have scrapped that as well.

Now, I've read rumors that most phones are getting updates shortly after the new year, so we'll see if Continuum is one of them.  I doubt it, but that's what people have been told by reps.  And we all know that the reps wouldn't mislead, would they?

Has anyone else heard the rumor that the Continuum gets upgraded to 2.2 on Jan. 17?  I've been looking for confirmation, but can't find any.

Well, seeing as it is now the 17th, and no word from Verizon on an update, today or any time in the future, seems this was one more unfounded rumor.  One Samsung rep told me in December that we will be getting an update, yet one in January told me they couldn't confirm that.  More non-answer answers, more promises, more proof that Verizon and Samsung could really care less about customers.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a manufacturer that DOES support their phones with Android updates in a timely manner?  LG?  Motorola?  HTC?  My thought is that Motorola might be the best to go with, now that Google has purchased them.

Our family has two Continuum's...

DO NOT UPDATE TO FROYO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both phone died and we lost all of our apps, and wasted two entire nights fighting failures.

the screen pops up with "Sorry! The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.     Force Close"   You can't do a damn thing with this phone after that...if your lucky you can move back one screen before it locks up...maybe select one item...usually not...

I'm sick and tired of having failures on phones!   This is three phones in a row (3 contracts) that can't live the entire life of my contract.  I suspecting that at 1.5 years into the contract bugs are pushed to your phone making you hate it and renewing a contract for another 2 years...who can afford the $499 straight up fee.

Switching to another company when this contract is over...they can't be any worse.

Can you give more details jusanothernumber? Cause like I said in that other post my whole family updated their continuum's without issues. The only thing is I had to restart the update process due to lost connection but everything still worked out. Were you able to do the first update or did it fail on the second update? Are you on 3G or Wifi while updating? Are one of your apps conflicting with the update? When exactly does the phone give you that error message? Before the 1st update? After it? While it's restarting? Before or during the 2nd update?

Those are all relevant questions that could help us solve your issue.

1 way around it is to do a factory reset, thus clearing everything off your phone and setting it to what it would be if you got it brand new. The down side of this, you will have to re-install your apps, reconnect your gmail accounts, etc, and basically put things back to where you want them. Alot of times, this fixes the issue because of apps that may not play well with the new upgrade.

If you do the reset, PLEASE make sure you do your homework and back things up, (Contacts) and make sure you know what apps you want installed afterwards, and know your passwords.

Unfortunately I have done 3 factory resets on my 2nd phone and it has fixed nothing.  Factory reset  WILL NOT remove Froyo update.  Once it has been updated it can not be removed.  Was told yesterday that a patch will be out in a few days for it.  Not likely!
