I updated on the evening of 11 February, and since then my phone has been running slow and hot, with insane battery drain (~30% per hour).

VERIZON: PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP.

Verizon needs to push Google for the patch/update to be released.

It's Verizon's fault, not Google's. Lollipop updates on other phones and other carriers haven't experienced this. It's unique to Samsung Galaxy S5 on Verizon.

I'd have to politely disagree with you. If your Apple or Microsoft computer operating system or software didn't run as you liked. Would you blame the the internet service provider?

No there have been issues with Nexus and some phone overseas from the Google download. Verizon gets this from Google and then does a push download update. Verizon pushed it out too early perhaps to a large number of people that were asking every day one question..when? I understand how you feel and perhaps Verizon has learned something to on this. thanks for the post.   Smiley Happy

Verizon may have not pushed it out to early? Google may have said, hey guys it's a go, send it out.

I can't accept Verizon wanted to cause a major S5 issue for the customers or the company. loss of money and bad PR.

You need to clear the cache partition. Turn the phone off. Simultaneously hold the power button, the up volume and the home button until you feel the phone vibrate (more like a a small "clunk") and release the power button but continue holding down the the up volume and home button until the recovery screen appears. Use the down volume button to navigate to Clear cache partition. Use the power button to select. It takes a couple of seconds after which, go up to to system reboot now and select using the power button. Miraculously, the battery and overheating were resolved when I did this

If you are running a task killer app, remove it. It is unnecessary on this device and may be part of the battery issues with the update.

If you are having wifi connection issues after the update, go to settings, then wifi, then select "advanced." Uncheck Smart Network switch.
