I checked through the board to see if anyone else has mentioned this but didn't find anything.
BGR.com is reporting that the reason Verizon passed on the new Galaxy S II is because they will be offering a Nexus phone in October. It will be a Samsung handset and will be the first to run on the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android.
All of this is rumor at this point but I for one hope it's true. I've been toting around my aged Original Droid for two years and have been waiting for something to come along with a "pure Android" OS. Maybe my waiting will finally pay off.

I wouldn't doubt it, given that the original Droid was essentially a Verizon branded Nexus device debuting Eclair. It's probably Verizon's method of getting a pure Android device but still being able to put their bloatware on it.

There still was Amazon MP3 (bloatware) on the Eris that I am happy to report is not on the Thunderbolt.
