NO Samsung Galaxy S2 from Verizon? Disappointing to say the least.

In a recent Wall Street Journal article is states Verizon will not offer the Samsung Galaxy S2 phone. Is this true?

I and I am sure many others have been waiting months, holding back an upgrade because of the many things I have read about of Verizon going to offer this phone and now nothing? What is going on here?

Edit: Additions

I would like to add,

Does this have something to do with whatever the Samsung Stratosphere is? If so, can you enlighten us please?

I'm free to go now!!

Verizon has been the only carrier we've used and I'm 45 years old so needless to say we've pumped thousands of dollars into Big Red over the years.  I'd say easily 5 figures over the past however many years.

But, after the Fascinate debacle which still isn't fixed and we're still struggling with 3 of them in our house and now the announcement the SGS2 is not coming to Verizon, I think it's safe to say it's time for this family to explore other options!!

The impending release of SGS2 was really the only thing keeping us on Verizon.  Now with the announcment that the largest carrier in the US is not going to offer a version of the best selling smartphone in the World it's time to get the SGS2 on another carrier when our current contract expires.

Disappointing for me too. I've been holding on to my upgrade eligibility for this phone. Whatever they are doing, it better be good, or I'll head for another carrier.

Well, this is absolute bull____.  Verizon owes ALL of its customers a damned good explanation; the fact that they're keeping quiet about its reasoning here is disingenuous at best and intentionally malicious at worst.  I guess the management has not heard anything from, and probably isn't interested in anything about, its customer base and seems to think that it knows what's best for its customers.  Clearly this is not true.  Honestly, I hope that this move drives away a significant percentage of Verizon's customers to its competition, and that the backlash from its board is to fire whatever short-sighted dimwits are responsible for this decision.

Boy, you guys are lucky that I can't do red letters on the phone... :smileyhappy:)

First, I learned the hard and expensive way almost 20 years ago that it's best to buy mobile phone service based on the carrier and their available coverage rather than which latest greatest fastest lightest brightest phone they are offering this week.

Second, Samsung hardware has always been sub-par in my book. They seem to be getting better, but uh oh, someone mentioned the Fascinate... Like I didn't smell that turkey coming... I was all set to give the GS2 and Samsung another shot, but I ain't too broke up over this news. At all. Especially with the possibility of the Nexus Prime coming to Verizon.

With Springs sorry coverage and the{word filter avoidance}
that's about to transpire from the AT&T/Tmobile merger thingies, the Droid Bionic isn't looking so dated after all.

As you were (averting eyes)

Oh yeah, one more little morsel to chew on...

It's never been said whether or not the GS2 has a 4G radio or not...

Hmmm...?

If this is true, my 10 year relationship with Verizon will be ending -

For months I have patiently waded through **bleep** internet story after **bleep** internet story looking for credible information on the Verizon release of the s2. Not a single word from VZ. Now just 4 days prior to Samsungs big unveil the WSJ breaks this story? Great job VZ! Way to cater to what your customer base wants. After all why would  you want a piece of the worlds best selling android phone when you can have one from Motorola? After all it has only taken them since January to get it to market. I for one feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that despite all the problems Motorola has had with the Bionic that you have opted to push it instead of the S2 that has gotten nothing but glowing reviews world wide.

I have been a vz customer since my first "Bag" phone. Like others above have commented , perhaps it is time to explore other options. The VZ source is quoted as pointing out that they already have the Charge. Same thing right? Wait. No... Single core vs dual core, froyo vs ginger bread,,, hey what's the difference, it is still $299 (the assumed price of the new dual core offerings) and so what if it is thicker and heavier... {word filter avoidance} feed um beans right?

Verizon has pushed me over the edge.   I am not going to sit still for this nonsense of never getting a decent 4G phone.   The LG is crap.   The Charge is super-crap.   The Moto 4G isn't to my liking either.    I've been waiting IMPATIENTLY for a 4G phone such as the Samsung GS2 forever.   Time for me to see which other carrier will be getting that phone soon.    Verizon you are too frickin' arrogant.    Just because you have a decent network does not mean I will stick with crappy phones like my awful Storm 2 or buy crap like the 3 aforementioned 4G phones.

I've been with Verizon for 10 years and some months my bill was over $220 due to additional hardware.   Currently it runs over $150.    I have spent more than $15,000 over the years.

Verizon--the gravy train is about to end.
