Motorola Droid Maxx headphone issue

Audio plays fine on bluetooth, speaker and internally until you connect headphones.  After that, even if the headphones are removed, I get a message saying "headphones disconnected" and the audio will only play for less than a second stopping and starting.  The only way to stop it is to power down and then it will happen as soon as headphones are connected again.

That is definitely strange, buckshotmaxx00. Have you had the opportunity to look into the headset jack of your phone to ensure there's nothing stuck, like pocket lint or other debris? Also, have you tried other headphones? I want to get your audio working correctly again.

Yes, I have checked and there isn't any debris inside. I have tried several different headphones and have the same issue with each pair.
