Currently the Devour is only being sold at VZW indirect agents, like Walmart. Some phones are only ever sold through the indirect agents. Some phones get released at a different date in the corporate stores or online.

ITs still not at Verizon dealers yet, but its at Best Buy (where I got mine) and other places... I guess VZW is trying to protect the distribution chain for certain period.

Its a solid Phone (not worried about dropping it), matches my MAC nice too. I can interface to my MAC via WiFi with "phone Portal" - Cool !

If you have a PC or no WiFi, you can connect USB via PC to modify contacts and sync iTunes playlists - nice. See how-to video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUh83o_Io_E

If you don't like the Social Blur widgets on the screen,  easy to get rid of, by dragging the Icons to the bottom center of the screen, then Trash Can appears (like MAC) and you can get rid of it. I have to say the custom News Feed is nice, even if your not a "social" type (touch News, then press the menu hard button to modify).

To each there own.  I saw one and "played" with it at a Verizon store yesterday.  I absolutely did not like it.  Not near the quality that Verizon usually puts out.  Feels cheap and light weight.  My son has the Droid and I have the Eris.  We will totally keep what we have.  Thanks to Verizon, but no thanks.

I seen it about a week ago at Walmart.  They told me they had an exclisive early release..apparantly so did other retail outlets, just not Verizon itself.  How funny! Whats even more amusing is how uninformed Verizon staff was..but of course anyone who has called tech support knows there are some really ignorant people on the other end of that phone..not that I'm bashing, cause there are some brilliant ones too.

my "get a new phone every 2 yr" term ends next week,

and i've been wondering whether i should get the

Driod or the Devour...

in terms of the specs of the phones, the Droid completely demolishes the Devour...

however, being a teenager with a big social life... (not to be so cocky-sounding)...

the Moto Blur seems the ultimate choice...

can someone give me some opinions??

AND also, is there a way i can upgrade the Android OS 1.5 to 2.0???

thanks a bunch guys!

I was playing with one of these today at Wal-Mart. I thought it was cool, so I ran over to the Verizon store to check one out there. I couldn't find it anywhere so I asked the sales guy where they were and he said they don't release until tomorrow. I told him I just saw one and he said "It's illegal to sell them early." To which I replied, "I don't care, I'm not selling it, I'd be buying it." He didn't much care for the response. :smileyhappy:

At any rate, the point of this post was just to say that it seems like a pretty cool handset. I don't think I'll be picking one up, but I could see it being a pretty good seller for Verizon. I definitely want to check one out at the store when they're "legal", which is tomorrow apparently.

The Devour is one of those rare instances where Verizon gives their indirect dealers the phone first.  Wal-Mart and Best Buy have had it for a month.  Verizon outlets are just getting it on the 25th.  Bottom line, he didn't know what he was talking about because they weren't "selling them early"
