Moto E Plus won't dial *22890 for OTA programming update

Every ninety days or so I have been calling *22890 to reprogram my cell phones.

My iPhone accepted the number & reprogammed sucessfully.

But when I for the first time tried to enter the *22890 number it my MOTA E Plus I get the message: "Can't dial this number."

Is there a special number for MOTO Androids or is this not necessary for this phone?

Thanks!

*228 is only for basic phones....

This would have only been used for initial over-the-air activation and PRL (preferred roaming list) updates on a basic phone but is not only useless on a 4G device, but is (as I was informed by a R&D engineer and developer of wireless devices) a potential danger to the sim and phone itself....

maybe iphone do that but androids don't You;re not supposed to *228 anything. good way to ruin a SIM which has been known to happen when people try to *228 a phone with a SIM. Not sure what you are trying to reprogram

We want to help you resolve any service issue you are having, HARHAN82. What specific issues are you experiencing? Why are you calling *22890? Did a Verizon tech support representative make this recommendation?

My resources indicate that the Moto E device is part of our prepaid service, and only our prepaid service team is able to access your account and assist you further with prepaid service issues. Please call them at 888-294-6804 (or *611 from your Verizon Wireless prepaid phone) at your convenience for assistance if your phone is part of prepaid service.

Thank you for the several responses to my questions. It appears that periodically running through this routine maintenance check is not needed for my new smartphone. Good!

Thanks for your help!
