FeedUpWithPoorTech, we always want Google's updates for your phone to help improve your experience and not hinder it. Hearing that there are multiple issues after the update, possibly a software error occured during the update. What make and model phone do you have? Have you checked for any new updates on the phone that may have been released after the Lollipop update?

I agree. The Lollipop update this summer was bad enough,
especially when it comes to the "hands free" driving and receiving
texts.  When I first bought my Droid Turbo, I was pleasantly surprised
when I received texts while driving it was announced to me automatically as
"You have a new message from _________. To hear it, say
listen."  And when I spoke, the phone read me the message and asked
if I wanted to reply. When I replied, the phone read back what I said to
confirm and sent the message on upon approval. That was awesome. When the first
update came this summer, all of the BIG help with this went away. Apparently
the voice recognition went bad because the phone could not hear me and replied “Let’s
talk later.” With this past update, the problem was fixed about 10%. It works
about 10% of the time. Now, when I need to reply to a text when not driving,
half of the time it won't allow me to type at all. I have to back out of the
texting mode and return. BIG PAIN!!

Google developed the OS and then your device's manufacturer has then changed it to their liking. You'll need to contact the manufacturer and see if they can tell you if there is an update coming soon.
