Second issue will randomly lose 3g and in order to restore need to do hard reset.

Sorry for the long response, but I have provided some information below that may help.
Battery Issue
Step 1 – Power the device off and remove the battery.
Step 2 – Ensure the contacts on the battery and device are clean. *If not, take a microfiber cloth (the same one that you use to clean the screen) and rub the contact.
Step 3 – Check the water mark indicator to ensure no moisture was present.
3G Issue
Step 1 – Ensure the device has ample signal (3-5 bars). *If not, relocate with the device as something in the immediate area could be causing an interference.
Step 2 – Soft reset
-Power the device off
-Remove the battery for 20 seconds
-Place the battery back in
-Power the device back on
Step 3 – Update the device
-Dial *228 and press send
-Once prompted by the automated system press 1
-Wait 45 seconds until programming is completed
Step 4 – Place the device in airplane mode and disable after 20 seconds.
-Press and hold the power key.
-Touch Airplane Mode.
Airplane mode is ON
Enabled - radio off
Airplane mode is OFF
Disabled - radio on
Step 5 – Place the device into WiFi and disable after 20 seconds
-From the Home screen, touch the applications tab (bottom of the screen).
-Touch Settings.
-Touch Wireless & networks.
-Touch Wi-Fi. (Wifi is enabled if a green check mark is present.)
Step 6 – Put the device into Safe mode. Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications. This is beneficial for troubleshooting 3rd party applications.
Enabling Safe mode
-Press and hold the power key.
-Touch Power off.
-Touch OK.
-Slide open the keyboard.
-Press the power key then press and hold the OK key (on the keyboard).
-Hold the OK key until Safe mode appears on the lower-left corner of the screen.
*This may take up to 30 seconds.
Press and hold the power key.
Touch Power off.
Touch OK.
***If the device works properly in safe mode, you may have a application that is not native to the device that is causing the issue.
