Your instructions are weird. Try:
Android
You can now use the Office Outlook app on your Android phones or tablets.
- Download the Microsoft Outlook app or search for Outlook in Google Play with your Android device.
- After the install, tap Get Started.
- Next, select the account that you like to add.
- Sign in to the account and the Microsoft Outlook app will begin to sync with that account.
Notes
- App might not be available in all countries or regions or devices.
- You can't edit your contacts in the app.
If you’re unable to use the app for any reason, you can still set up Outlook.com on your Android device. Here’s how:
- On your device, tap Email, then tap Add account.
- Enter your Outlook.com email address and password, then tap Manual setup.
- Under What type of account is this? tap Exchange.
- If there is a Domain field, leave it blank. If there is a Username field, enter your email address.
- Enter your password.
- For Server name enter s.outlook.com.
- Make sure the Use secure connection (SSL) checkbox is checked, then tap Next.
- Choose your account options and tap Next.
- To finish setup, tap Done.
Let me know if that works.

Wow - thank you so very much!!!! I will try first via the app - if not then Manual set up, which is the way I was trying to go...may I ask why EXCHANGE? when I looked up the descriptions for all 2 options, I thought that wasn't for me - can't remember now if that was the business one - since this is just individual, personal use. And, I didn't see the SSI o SSL that you mentioned; but, i'm going to keep your reply in front of me as I attempt once again to set up my email...thanks again!! I appreciate your response....
