Google Nexus 5 - complain directly to Verizon

In my experience the "squeaky wheel gets the grease."  Those of us who want to be able to use an unlocked Google phone on Verizon need to become the Squeaky Wheel.

Complain to Google. They are the ones that designed the phone and choose the hardware.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I feel you Grandma. It'd be sweet for that to happen. It'd be in keeping with something called progress. It'd be in keeping with something called the 21st century not the 20th century.

Unfortunately after the Samsung Galaxy Nexus debacle...

I think the google nexus would be a great idea and wish Verizon did offer it.

Verizon doesn't know how to support Nexus devices.  They had one and screwed it up royally.  A Nexus device is supposed to have a clean OS (no skins or junk apps) and is supposed to be the first to get each new version of Android until Google stops providing updates for the device.  I'm looking at my Verizon Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.2.  4.3 has been out for about half a year and other carriers have updated the Galaxy Nexus to 4.3 but not Verizon.  Every update for the Galaxy Nexus was delayed by Verizon for weeks if not months and they're not even bothering with the final update for the phone.  I bought a Nexus 10 tablet when it was released and it was months before both of my Nexus devices were running the same OS.  That lasted 5 or 6 months before the Nexus 10 left it behind again.

Verizon doesn't deserve another Nexus device.  They had their chance.

The Galaxy Nexus weren't all updated. There were different ones in different regions. What most did was root and put what they wanted. The Verizon version was no exception.

Second that.

I had the Verizon Xoom 3G/4G/LTE Which was a Google GED aka 'pure Android' device, and it routinely took VZN a year or longer to release the android updates for both ICS and JellyBean.

I got the Nexus 7 unlocked LTE and I am extremely happy that VZN has no involvement In android updates. It was nice to get Kitkat a week after Google released it.

I bought a Nexus device so I wouldn't have to root/hack/jailbreak/whatever it.  I paid a premium price to get a product that would get me a clean, cutting edge experience without any hassle.  Verizon shouldn't have gotten involved with the Nexus line if they weren't prepared to support it properly.

And I'm not complaining about the lack of a 4.4 update.  I know Google's ended support for the Galaxy Nexus.  But it's inexcusable for Verizon (or any carrier) to refuse to provide 4.3 for the Galaxy Nexus.

I moved 4 lines to Tmo. I bought my wife and myself Nexus 5's and our 2 boys Moto G's. We are VERY happy with the phones, the service, and especially the price. $185/MONTH.  I waited months for updates for my Galaxy Nexus from Verizon, while the other carriers let Google update them directly. The day after my contract was up,I drove to T-mo..  And another thing.... Verizon's phone selection is absolutely pitiful, and the few phones they do have are so locked down and bloated, it really makes for an awful user  experience. When we (the customers) pay for a device, it should come "clean", or at the very least have a way to remove the crApps VZW puts on it... You won't find "MyVerizon" on an iPhone. That's for sure.... Until Verizon take a deep look at its policies, they will lose longtime customers... Like myself and my family.

Actually you have the wrong idea. It's not up to them to support it properly. No matter what you say... Google made the agreement and that was the way it was. If Google didn't come to terms the way they wanted they simply could have walked away. Not one person has shown any factual information on what was agreed to and what wasn't.

I already brought this up long before the Galaxy Nexus was released on Verizon.

Anyway Google didn't even submit anything for the Verizon version. I mean if you actually looked and if Google was so innocent themselves they'd at least have something, but they don't. I bet they figured the warranties are expired and people either moved on or hacked their phones.
