Hi All,I did a search for this on these boards and online, but I could not find any helpful information. I've had my Note 3 for almost 2 years and this morning I woke up to this message from my VZ Protect: Gallery: Infecteed by: Malware/system/priv-app/SecGallery2013/SecGallery2013.apk Infected by: MalwareTwo days prior I had installed a Disney game called Tsum Tsum, Whatsapp and an app called Cram. I uninstalled Tsum Tsum and Whatsapp, (I did not uninstall Cram, I need it.) I don't think those were the problem as my VZ Protect scans each night and only discovered a problem 2 days later, but I panicked and started blaming everything.Should I be worried? Is there anyway I can get rid of this malware? Should I try another virus scanner? I'm anxious about passwords and such being stolen. Thank you for any help you can give me!

It's not an update issue, it's an ad for their product. It is, in itself, adware, which is considered by many to be malware. It is hypocritical, although harmless...rather useless.

I encountered this same issue this morning. Glad this thread was here otherwise I would have been factory resetting my phone. What a pain!

Around 1 am I got the same notification. It wants you to uninstall gallery but you can't. Any help from the Verizon folks would be appreciated.

It's a good idea to have a memory card in your phone (the bigger the better) and adjust the camera settings to send all photos and videos to the memory card - and not just keep them on your phone.Hopefully you were able to send the pictures to the Verizon and/or Google Clouds and retain them.If you look at the thread from Verizon they seem to be working on it.

I'm not ignoring your logic. 🙂 I completely agree that disabling it would help, but I want someone from Verizon to see and respond to this. I'll also be downloading a new malware/virus protector. Verizon still needs to let us know what is up.

I have an odd update. I disabled VZ Protect and installed Malwarebytes on Sunday. I scanned and found no viruses or malware. Unfortunately, today I noticed that my phone was losing battery very quickly. I uninstalled Malwarebytes and reenabled VZ protect. I had to reboot my phone about 3 times for the updates to take effect and allow VZ protect to scan my phone, which took another 30 minutes. No malware found in my gallery! I don't know if they fixed it or if un-installing and reinstalling the updates helped, but so far it seems to be working. I'll keep you guys updated. 🙂

Hello again. I appreciate your response. There is no Popup or "advertisement" going on what what I can tell. There is nothing whatsoever that would indicate it is an advertisement--not even a passive one. There is no service or application to pay for and no links to an advertisement. Verizon has never offered to pay for full protection. It is possible that a Verizon service app "advertisement" may have been the source for prior issues or popups, but nothing about this current threat suggests it is simply an advertisement. When I click it says the following: ###This app is malware, and it can: Replicate itself without your knowledge or permission. Hijack your device and control it remotely. Damage your device and data or steal your personal information. Monitor your device and observe your activities. Take advantage of your device's vulnerabilities to access and use your data. Send junk messages or emails from your device. Direct you to a fake website to get your account information. ###Again, this does not sound like an advertisement to me, and if it is, then Verizon should put out a notice explaining this. However, from what I read on this thread and elsewhere is that the possible issue is a glitch with the recent Verizon update performed on September 8, 2015. That is when I began having the security issue. But no one knows for sure the source of the problem. I have also had other strange things happen which lead me to believe there is malware. According to others on this list and others, Verizon is aware there is a problem. Until Verizon says it is just a harmless advertisement (and again, there is nothing to indicate it is an ad), I must assume the security "threat" from the malware is real.

Yep! I got my Threat Alert bright and early this morning! Same thing still going on for me. I did notice that there is a "Threat Definition" 4.2.29.474 - don't know what that means.It's almost criminal Tech Support is still telling people to do a factory reset - which is awful if you really don't have to do it and it won't change anything anyway!How many people are going through this unnecessarily who haven't connected with this thread?

I appreciate your comment and adding to the discussion. I think the more responses to this thread the better...then maybe Verizon will take notice and do something...
