Do you feel burned knowing Nexus One is here soon ? (Google-Phone)

So what are the chances that there will be a CDMA version of the Nexus One coming to Verizon? These (so far) rumors keep coming up. The phone looks quite promising, though I wonder about battery life on it. (Also, I prefer the black casing of the Eris if we are just talking looks).

If the Nexus One comes to Verizon (I hope it does, and soon!), I believe it would do very well - not everyone wants a keyboard, so this would broaden the offerings Verizon brings to the market.

I do find it odd that Google made this phone (which I admittedly haven't studied much, and therefore haven't found a reason to get really jazzed about) with a GSM radio, unless it was a nod to T-Mobile for some reason. AT&T certainly isn't throwing much support behind Android and Verizon has. In spades. Perhaps Google, like a lot of phone makers, I suppose, are waiting on the LTE roll-out.

You're under the impression that the Motorola Calgar/Devour is the "Droid 2?"

First, lets dissect as to the reasons why your **bleep**umptions are incorrect:

• The link in itself provides a hint as to what the Calgary provides: The MotoBlur (See MotoCliq) UI.
• The Calgary couldn't be a "Droid 2" because not only does it run on the MotoBlur UI, that wouldn't line up seeing as how the Droid runs on Stock Android.
• The specs on that phone are guaranteed to be sub-par to that of the Droid's, or very similar to first generation Phones.
• It looks wretched.

Personally I would have rather had the Calgary.  Simply because it would have been free for me after all the NE2 and all that.  I got the Droid and I am more than happy with it but there are somethings that are somewhat lost on me really and I would have been fine with a lower end phone.  Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade the Droid for a Calgary or whatever it will be called but I like its keyboard much better and it will be cheaper.  Oh well but that **bleep** phone has been kicked around for ever if it ever actually gets released it will crack me up.

I am available to upgrade next month. I was originally thinking (back in November) of upgrading to the Omnia II, as I was not that impressed with the Moto Droid (or Motorola in general after my short lived Razr experience). I absolutely love HTC, but the Eris is lacking in some major departments. Granted, for $99, it's more than worth it to deal with a less than stellar screen, lack of flash, Cupcake, slower performance, etc. But in all honesty, I'd rather pay the extra money to get a phone that I'm satisfied with (or satisfied with for eight months, until I am bored with it and wanting something new.).

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe we are able to get the Nexus One in it's current state and I have no interest in hopping providers every time a new phone comes out that Verizon cannot or will not add to their network. I am far more interested in knowing  if the HTC Passion/Dragon/Bravo is coming to the Verizon network. Oh. My. God. I will hold out as I can, dealing with my buggy/glitchy Omnia if I know we are actually getting that phone!! But, yes I would feel completely miffed if I get the Eris because the Passion goes to T-mobile and then we suddenly get the Nexus One.

Why would you feel burned. There are always better phones coming out. I am sure that within a few months of the Nexus One, a better phone will be launched. It's like that with any technology. TV, computers, etc. Besides, we knew about the Passion/Nexus One back in September, it was just the matter of waiting it out or buying now. I can tell you this, I will be working Verizon hard for an exchange of my Eris for the Nexus One when it does come out. They have worked with me in the past in doing mid-term exchanges and I have stuck with them as a result.

Well it's no longer coming soon...it's here...at least for T-mobile.  Verizon is supposed to get it soon too.  I wouldn't say I feel burned but seeing as I got my Droid less than a month ago I have some "buyer's remorse" now.  Especially if it doesn't get Android 2.1 soon and the Nexus One turns out to be as great as advertised, without the Droid's shortcomings.

You realize that the Droid and Nexus are near identical in specs aside from the processor, right?

And that we'll be getting Apps2SD soon, right?

And that We're getting 2.1, right?

K just making sure that I got a good jist of all the 'shortcommings' of the Droid you speak of. That's all.
