When on a call, the only way callers can hear me clearly is if I turn the speaker on. otherwise my voice goes in and out every second or so and it sounds garbled on the other end. I am very thankful I have not had many of the problems with this phone as others, but considering I use this for work, this is very annoying.

Let's get you back talking on the phone. We can understand how this can be annoying. Have you tried powering the phone on and back on? Is there a screen protector on the device? Is there a case on the phone covering the mic? Try looking for those few things and let us know how it goes.
